A western diplomat and three regional security sources said Wednesday that Israel Air Force warplanes struck a target on the Syrian-Lebanese border overnight, hours after Lebanon reported a series of three overflights by Israel in its airspace.

One reason the convoy was struck (reports) was that it was carrying Chemical Weapons.

Conflicting reports on 'airstrike' on Syria-Lebanon border
A Lebanese news agency is now denying that there's been an Israeli strike on its border with Syria.A Lebanese military source has told me he heard sonic boom from jets last night, but no boom of an explosion.
As I post this on FR, ITV has now updated to say the IAF attack was on a missile convoy delivery from Syria to Hezbullah.

Very scary headlines in Arutz Sheva( INN News) with gas masks being handed to civilian Israeli’s as fears Hizbollah will claim the gas missiles. I was sort of hoping Russia would make the rats pound sand but it sounds like absolute anarchy in many cities.
Debka is reporting it was a missile convoy in Syria destined for Hezbollah.
The FoxNews article seems to support the Debka article. (Missiles were in the convoy.)
