U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz Statement on Immigration Reform Proposal
U.S. Senate ^ | Monday, January 28, 2013 | Sen. Ted Cruz

Posted on 01/28/2013 3:39:16 PM PST by kristinn

WASHINGTON, DC -- U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) issued the following statement regarding today’s bipartisan immigration reform proposal:

I appreciate the good work that senators in both parties have put into trying to fix our broken immigration system. There are some good elements in this proposal, especially increasing the resources and manpower to secure our border and also improving and streamlining legal immigration. However, I have deep concerns with the proposed path to citizenship. To allow those who came here illegally to be placed on such a path is both inconsistent with rule of law and profoundly unfair to the millions of legal immigrants who waited years, if not decades, to come to America legally.

Considering the condition of the country I’m not sure streamlining the process is a good idea but this guy makes perfect sense about the path to citizenship.

The whole thing is theater. Another sell out. Republicans won’t get any more “credit” from the Hispanic community than they did when Reagan signed the ‘86 amnesty. This is a win only for the Dems. The GOP had their shot in W’s first term and a half and squandered it as they did in so many ways.

Why is it only poor/middle class white people have to obey the law?

Cruz is just providing cover to the fact that Boner has agreed to pass the Senate-Obama Amnesty Plan:

Boner’s Math:

200 House RATS + 18 House RINOS = Amnesty Passes

Hw are we to ensure the integrity of OUR elections? Not that we do a great job of that now...but IF this gets through..it better make CRYSTAL CLEAR that CITIZENS, born or naturalized are the only voters in our elections. Voter ID must reflect citizen status.. I think I’m going to be ill.

Perfect statement. If the GOP had even an ounce of brain matter available, they would put Sen. Cruz before every camera they can find and have him repeat this same statement over and over.

The GOP had their shot in W’s first term and a half and squandered it as they did in so many ways.

The really sad thing is, 9-11 provided the absolute perfect reason to lock down the borders. The illegal immigration issue would have been largely solved by this time with that one single action. No amnesty, pure border security - and there wouldn't have been squat the Democrats and media could have done about it. The public would have fully supported such a common sense policy in light of the terror attacks on September 11th. We could have completely changed the status quo on illegal immigration. Unfortunately Bush preferred the path of open borders and amnesty.

Cruz isn’t a lapdog for Boner but he knows Amnesty is a done deal in both the Senate and House.

House will vote:

200 RATS + 18 RINOs = 218 For Amnesty
217 GOP/Other Against

Amnesty passes with 218 Votes out of 235. If Rats pickup empty house seats, then Boner only needs 15 RINO votes to pass the bill.

in a few states whites are now the minority and white folk are certainly the only people who suffer the consequences for breaking a law. No equal justice = no longer a legitimate country

Creating an effective employment verification system to ensure that employers do not hire illegal immigrants.

THAT reads like a Gustapo Bureau and a NATIONAL ID card for all residents and visitors.

Turns out many who wanted fairness really we’re fine with unfairness and discrimination...they just wanted it directed at whites.

Every new illegal on a ‘path to citizenship’ will be counterbalanced by another unemployed American teenager on a ‘path to drug dealership’, and/or a ‘path to gang membership’.

The long term political problem is not solved by this bill. Fine, we legalize illegals.

Then, next year, hundreds of thousands come across the border. They are illegal despite the law. They start agitating for amnesty. And the same ol’ same ol’ repeats itself.

Without shutting down the border, none of the other stuff works. Conservatives will never have a chance at the Hispanic vote without a border shutdown because the irritant will not go away.

I do not think that we need to “fix our broken immigration system”. Our current system is working as it is now. They say that it is Slow and keeps a lot of people out of the USA. Well that is the point, However we have 11-30 Million people that have bypassed the current system due to a total lack of border control.

As Sen. Ted Cruz states;”To allow those who came here illegally to be placed on such a path is both inconsistent with rule of law and profoundly unfair to the millions of legal immigrants who waited years, if not decades, to come to America legally”

So now we will make a “law” allowing the Illegals to become Legal? Only in the USSR of the USA.
