Here’s one from the wayback machine.
I was about 13 at the time. We were at Camp Wolfboro, a BSA camp on the Stanislaus river in the Sierra.
Any normal alolescent boy at that age is very interested in the opposite sex, and when staying at a boys camp, the sight of a pretty girl will gather a crowd of said boys like bees to a blossom. So when most of the boys in the camp began spending as much time as possible at the dispensary it is logical to assume that the presence of Dr. Gray’s teenage daughter was the reason. But there was one boy in our camp platoon that never went near the place, and when we talked about miss Gray at the mess hall or campfire, he would act offended, and call the rest of us sissies for being so interested.
He soon found himself completely alone, and complained to our counsellor that we were shunning him. There was to my knowledge no organized effort to do so; it was just nature in action, but we got a lecture nevertheless.

Girl Scouts national professsionals went lesbo several years back. Membership continues to decline (just like BSA). Conservative Girl Scouters have broken away to form their own association.
The LDS (Mormons), RCC (Catholics), and SBC (Southern Baptist Convention) are in the last line of defense of Christian orthodoxy regarding teaching of sexual sin, i.e., fornication, adultery, and active homosexuality. While the SBs are not as involved in Scouting, they do have a stake in this fight.

Epilogue: Many years later, I read a book about seasoned cops and their stories. One particular cop who caught pedophiles, likened to Law and Order SVU, made some profound comments on these pervs that changed my way of thinking. First the pedophiles decide at a very young age that they like young people. There, er, feelings, are significant enough that they make career decisions based on their perversions. So they gravitate to where they can be around their young prey and, importantly, in authority. So, the unsuspecting parents and kids do not realize that the creep they are talking to has spent years (decades) positioning himself as a spider builds a web.
The cop went on to say (paraphrase) these creeps are masters of disguise and deception. For instance, they may be married and have kids. They are very patient. It could take months or years to actually perpatrate their crime on one individual.
And usually...get this...they are very cool, as in hip and with-the-times. The cop said that upon getting arrested, the people who know these clowns are suprised and even deny that the perv could have possibly done these horrible things. "He is just so good with kids". "He would never hurt my boy". "He is such a big brother to my son".
My point is that even today, I am eyeing coaches, teachers, youth pastors who are just too cool. Who have all the latest kid gadgets, xbox, smart phones, hot cars, etc. Who love to help the single mom with her "troubled" boy. Who does not seem to have any friends except his mother.

They're not "considering", they've been forced by the govt.......A recent lawsuit said they can't discriminate against homosexuals. They have no choice in the matter......

More importantly however, I cannot even fathom or imagine that ANY parent would send their 8-12 yr old boy on any camping trip any longer. In fact I would not trust even the scout meetings held at churches or schools. It's not like there has never been any molestation occurring in these institutions in the past.
How could any legitimate parent with an ounce of decency or common sense, put their young son into a predator rich environment for some homosexual queer pedaphile to fondle, molest & even sodomize?

I’ve gone camping/backpacking with my sons; they’ll never spend a day in the Boy Scouts for that very reason. I appreciate the stand the Scouts have already taken, but like the clergy there is a first time for everything. My sons aren’t going to be anyone’s first victim. Not all people involved in scouting or the clergy or education are pedophiles, but pedophiles do gravitate towards those fields for that very reason (access).
The Marxist march through all of our institutions is now about complete including the church. The Boy Scouts is one of the last ones.

It is no accident that they have targeted so many institutions that promote godliness, moral absolutes, integrity, self-reliance, boldness, a willing to fight for one’s belief, a willing to fight to defend others.

You are reading too much into this. National is saying that they will bow out of this and leave it to the local councils to decide what they want to do. For 99% of the country this would mean no change to the eligibility requirements for scout leadership. They also specify that charter partners have a say so too can you see LDS or Catholic church agreeing to this? Now a few local councils San Fran and Mass come to mind may chose to allow gay scout leaders. We will see where that road takes them. As conservatives do we not always preach that the level closest to the people should make the local calls. This is BSA national in Texas saying OK you out there in scout land make your own decision. National is about the $ and always has been.
Without question we can expect a “Rainbow Badge” for meritorious support for “Inclusive Activities”, which will include organizing Boyfriend of Scouts events at Gay Day rallies. I am not even remotely kidding.

It is about forcing what used to be a religious, traditional organization to allow openly homosexual men women access to what the homos term as “recruits” (people they can convert to homosexuality).
Let’s keep in mind that the issue with priests attacking young boys is not an issue of Catholic theology, it is an issue of homosexual predators seeking out an occupation that allows them access to potential victims.
The homos have shifted focus to the Catholic church aspect of the issue away from the root issue which is that of homosexual predators.
If that predation happened so flagrantly where it is not condoned, imagine how it will proliferate in an organization where it is openly condoned.
What we have learned over the past four years is that an overwhelming majority of blacks hate whites and always will and will take from whites whatever they can whenever they can.

BS. The same pressure causing this decision is the same pressure that will be used later to force the locals to allow homosexual activities in the scouts. Incrementalism is the name of the liberal game; always has been, always will be.

They banned queers because a long standing, massive child molestion ring threatened to break the bank in lawsuits. Hate to say it, but like JoePa at Penn state, they looked the other way while the animals operated at camps and other activities until the law suits began.

The short answer is no. Cub and Boy Scout units were once chartered on U.S. military bases but the ACLU put the kybosh on that in the early 2000s. Same goes for the National Jamboree which was hosted by the U.S. Army at Ft. A.P. Hill, VA, from 1980-2010. Those days are gone.
The confusion among volunteers at the unit (Pack, Troop) level is the difference in funding for the national council, the local council, and the individual units. Basically, the units are expected to fund themselves. They do get some help from the local councils during the annual fall popcorn sale (proceeds are split between the units and the council with the units getting the lion's share).
Local councils are mostly funded by ...
1. local United Way Chapters
2. annual Friends of Scouting (FoS) drives
3. annual Trails End popcorn sale (the Cubs are the biggest sellers)
4. private donations (individual endowments, corporations)
5. cyclical capital campaigns (~every 7 years, foundation grants)
6. annual membership dues
7. Mutual of Omaha offers accident and sickness insurance coverage to Scouts and Scouters which furnishes medical reimbursement in case of death, accident, or sickness within the policy amounts. Most likely, BSA gets a commission for policies sold.
8. special events - charity trap/skeet shoots, charity golf tournaments, recognition/motivational banquets

10. Scout Shop sales at local council service centers.
