What did Republicans win in the immigration deal? (No guarantee on border security!!)
Washington Post ^ | Monday January 28, 2013 | Greg Sargent

It’s has been widely assumed this morning by some immigration advocates (and by yours truly, too) that the new immigration reform plan’s process of citizenship for the country’s 11 million undocumented immigrants is contingent on a commission of Southwestern officials declaring the border secure.

Not true. I’ve now got clarification from Senate staff working on the bill, and it turns out that the enforcement commission’s judgments will only be advisory, and are entirely nonbinding. Congress’ actions will not be dictated by what this commission concludes; neither will actions taken by the Department of Homeland Security. The citizenship process will be triggered by other means

[...... ]

But the commission isn’t, for all practical purposes, really a major concession at all. If you look at the framework released by the bipartisan group of eight Senators today, it never quite says directly that the citizenship process can’t move forward until the commission reaches its findings. Rather, it says the plan creates a commission that will make a “recommendation” on when border security has been achieved, and doesn’t specify that this recommendation is what triggers the citizenship process.

Ted Kennedy: 1986 Amnesty

“In 1986 Senator Kennedy said, ‘This amnesty will give citizenship to only 1.1 to 1.3 million illegal aliens. We will secure the borders henceforth. We will never again bring forward another amnesty bill like this.’ If Senator Kennedy lied to us then, how can we trust him now?” . “Attrition through enforcement is the only fair and feasible way to deal with the 12 to 20 million illegal aliens currently in the United States. This proposal guarantees only that the problem of illegal immigration will only grow exponentially as it did after the 1986 amnesty.”

Menendez wants to make it easier for underage prostitutes to enter the United States. Less travel for him.

The Republicans are neither stupid nor cowardly. They know exactly what they are doing. They want to flood this country with illegal aliens from the Third World just as much as the Democrats. El Presidente Bush could have sealed the border after 9/11 but decided to open the flood gates. Even the lowliest CONgressional Republicans doesn’t care if they lose their seats in the process. They are already set for life with their pension and health care paid for by the taxpayers and God known how much loot they have tucked away in Switzerland. The Democrats and Republicans are bought and paid for by the same crowd.

Conservatives in America are going to have to do exactly what we did in 2007 and melt the District of Corruption switchboard when the vote comes up. PASS THIS AND THERE IS NO POSSIBLE RETREAT FOR AMERICA, NONE.

Why not a true reading of the 14th in WHOLE? You know, the part that says “and subject to the jurisdiction thereof”?

No, we are easily in a Banana Republic now; I suspect a police state would be the next step.

Our own side selling us out, nobody follows the Constitution, and selective enforcement of any laws they do wish to follow.

Nothing but demographic gain for Dems... 11 million new voters for them, and what, exactly for Repubs?

I'd say it is unbelievable, but it is totally believable that Republicans in Congress will compromise American interests in a NY minute.

“What did Republicans win in the immigration deal?”

Did anyone really expect them to “win” anything?

C’mon..... did you?

A porous American border is the only thing that keeps the Mexican economy afloat. Mexico can cut millions off their own welfare rolls by encouraging surplus population to go north and consumer demand in Mexico is increased by money that is sent by illegals back to their families south of the border. Mexico gets all the benefit and America takes the hit. If amnesty is granted, there will be another 20 million flood across the border in the next 5 years.

“So Rush is helping Rubio.”

Without a doubt.

Rush has always been worthless in the fight to rid ourselves of the foreign nationals who have planted themselves in America in defiance of the law.

Some of the movers in the Prop 187 fight tried to get him involved as early as 1994 and he always had a lame excuse.

He wouldn’t even take calls on the subject.

It wasn’t until we melted the Senate phone lines when Bush the Useless tried to ram amnesty through that Rush got around to yelling “wait! wait! I am your leader!”

And like every pretender the thing he focuses on is “sealing the border”. The real issue is deporting those who are here. The people afraid of the D word are just wasting our time.

“Nothing but demographic gain for Dems... 11 million new voters for them, and what, exactly for Repubs?”

That “11 million” number has been trotted out for 20 years.

A Wall Street investment firm ran its own study some years back that had no political agenda, just a desire to estimate the size of the illegal alien ‘market’ in the US. That number was close to 30 million.

“I am no fan of Rubio but why single him out? He has always been in favor of immigration reform.”

No he hasn’t. When he was in Florida he scuttled attempts by Florida Republicans to address the issue.

What he has always been for is Latino exception to the law. He’s a Jeb Bush protege.

HERE they are. I wouldn't call them capitalists though because they for the most part hate true free enterprise, love big government (to regulate their competition) and promote environmentalism, DIEversity, and globalism.
