Pray for Our Nation and American Heroes (1/28/13)

Holy God,

Were it not for You, life would have no meaning at all. Were it not for You, the sun would not shine. Were it not for You, laughter and joy would cease. Were it not for You, there would be no future for any of us.

But, God, how great Thou art! You are the Great I AM and because You are, then we can also be. You are the God Who loves us, Who redeems us, Who saves us, Who dusts us off and remakes us. You are the God Who has wonderful plans for us, Who has begun good works in us, Who is committed to completing that which He has begun. You are the God Who is faithful, Whose mercies are new every morning. You are the God Who has gone to prepare a place for us and Who has promised to return and take us there. You are the God Who daily loads us with benefits. Though we deserve nothing but death, yet You give us blessings for a day, and blessings for a lifetime. All glory, honor, power, and praise be unto You, Lord God.

Surely You are aware of our heartaches over our nation. We lay these concerns at the foot of the Cross of Calvary, for so You have taught us. Help us to repent as a nation, Lord, and return to You. Each day brings news of more liberties erased. But daily, You load us with benefits, Lord.

Thank You for our brave military men and women. Bless them with every spiritual blessing in Christ Jesus. Make them to dwell in the secret place---in the shadow of Your wings. Send people to bless their families who wait for them. Reward them for their faithfulness to their fellow man.

Lord, we pray for peace in Jerusalem and Your blessing upon all Israel. Help us to hold them up in prayer as a way of showing our love for You.

Thank You for the privilege of praying with other Believers. Though we have never met in person, we are able to glimpse their hearts and share the love of Jesus together. We pray that our prayers would always bring glory and honor to You alone. In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

In the coldest and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting glory and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.

In like manner, let our prayers now rise lie a fountain for our Heroes in the American Armed Forces who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and keep them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.
