Feinstein Gun Control Bill to Exempt Government Officials
Weekly Standard ^

Posted on 01/25/2013 5:27:23 AM PST by Perdogg

Not everyone will have to abide by Senator Dianne Feinstein's gun control bill. If the proposed legislation becomes law, government officials and others will be exempt.

"Mrs. Feinstein's measure would exempt more than 2,200 types of hunting and sporting rifles; guns manually operated by bolt, pump, lever or slide action; and weapons used by government officials, law enforcement and retired law enforcement personnel," the Washington Times reports.

They did that so the cops will feel Superior and have no problem doing no knock raids in the middle of the night killing innocent folk.

Pass a new law and they now have millions of criminals they can take down. It’s called Job Security.

My response to any legislation coming from Washington or liberals these days: You First.

If sexy black guns are evil, you disarm first. If they serve some law enforcement purpose, then obviously they aren’t inherently evil and thus do not require banning in the first place.

If concealed carry is inherently evil, you disarm first. Obviously your security has no need of hiding their weapons since it serves no useful purpose - if that’s wrong, than the same applies to the people as well.

If there’s a gun free zone, but you still insist on your security having guns anyway, then you don’t believe that gun free zones work, and thus such limitations shouldn’t apply to the people either.

Diane, you are a citizen of the United States, just as your security teams are. You want to push forward this bill, I want you to go out in front of the cameras and say, “Well, actually, yes, we are more equal than other citizens, and thus deserve special benefits and privileges.” And then you’ll point to the place in the constitution that permits this.

But you won’t. And the scary part is that there’s not one major media reporter who will challenge these yahoos on this or any issue.

You watch as this debate goes forward. It won’t be long and the gun control debate will soon to labeling gun owners as domestic terrorists.

Then they can arrest you, deprive you of your right to due process and send you off to the gulag to never be heard from again.

Sounds familiar to some history I read about before they destroyed all the factual history books...

“Had” a nice Mauser that my dad brought back from Germany after WWII .He put a nice sporting stock on it and was his primary hunting weapon during deer season. Unfortunately I had a boating incident with the weapon on board.

Thanks for posting the list. I don’t have any of those on the list. I just noticed that the Army match snipers use several of those weapons in their matches. We had to get LTC or above justification to buy parts for our shop when we were working on weapons for the TX rifle and pistol team.

E-vil guns here. Warning, your eyes may bleed.

The devil is in the details. What would an liberal judge do with this law?

” or semiautomatic version of an automatic firearm.”

This could work in reverse. What if an lib judge decided that a 1911 was once full auto, because John Dillenger had one so the 1911, and other semi-auto pistols could be banned.

The Ausies took a bolt action rifle and converted one to full auto in the early years of WWII. Hiram Maxim and John Browning also converted lever action Winchesters to full auto. What if a liberal judge decided that these could be banned because of experiments to make them full auto.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Smart local sheriffs can nullify this law by simply deputizing every gun owner in the county. :)

They can pass the laws but they can’t force compliance on 100 million gun owners

Unlike Healthcare, they can't deduct our guns from our paycheck. *If*/When they succeed in making us all criminals, we have a lot less to lose by engaging in civil disobedience and otherwise ignoring their rules. Once they force us to become criminals, we'll become much more creative in disrupting and starving the beast.

Hopefully, saner heads will prevail.

“The United States prioritizes the right to keep and bear arms over the protection of citizens’ lives and personal security...”

Damn right we do! But more to the point. More innocent people were slaughtered by out-of-control governments in the 20th century than all the violent crime and civilian mass shootings in human history combined. The average human being in the 20th century was many times more likely to die at the hands of abusive government than from any form of civilian crime. Gulags, concentration camps, and mass genocide are not the purview of deranged individuals. They are the product of governments that have achieved too much power (and the megalomaniacs who lead them).

How on earth can people not see that getting rid of guns is far more deadly than having them?

Given the choice of trusting my neighbor with a so-called assault weapon, and trusting some bureaucrat in a government office. I choose my neighbor. People of principle realize there are worse things in this world than being gunned down by a nut-job. Living without freedom is worse (and actually more dangerous on the average).
