Lawmakers to unveil new assault weapons ban
Wa Compost ^ | 1/24/13 | O'Keefe

Democratic lawmakers plan to formally reintroduce a bill Thursday that would ban military-style assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines, the most ambitious — and politically risky — element of proposals unveiled by President Obama to limit gun violence.

The “Assault Weapons Ban of 2013″ is similar to one passed in 1994 that expired with little protest in 2004. The measure will be unveiled Thursday morning by a slate of Democratic co-sponsors, led by longtime gun control advocates Sen. Dianne Feinstein (Calif.) and Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (N.Y.), who have pushed for the ban before in part because of their personal histories with gun violence.

The bill is a far-reaching attempt to rein in the use of such weapons by prohibiting the sale, transfer and manufacturing of more than 100 specific weapons, including certain semiautomatic rifles, handguns and shotguns that can hold detachable magazines or hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition. Aides said Wednesday that sponsors were still sorting out specific details of the bill to make the package as politically tenable as possible.

But supporters face an uphill climb in a Congress stacked with Republicans and moderate Democrats who support Second Amendment rights and rely on political support from the National Rifle Association and other gun groups to win reelection. Regardless, Feinstein and McCarthy plan to press ahead.

> Why is it that every time some mental case shoots people, the first reaction of our politicians is to try to take everyone’s guns who DIDN’T commit the crime?

That’s a rhetorical question, because all of the most serious gun-grabbers are extreme liberals, all of whom believe that the government should rule us, rather than have the government serve us...and if we get too uppity about how they’re spending our money or how they’re regulating us to death, then they don’t want to face any resistance when they send their goons to drag us off to jail.

I can answer this because I’ve been around plenty of people that are of the anti-gun crowd; they all share one trait - They have NEVER fired any firearm. They simply side with the gun control lobby because they are scared of them and they think it is the trend for the more educated and want to be percieved as being more intelligent than YOU. It has NOTHING to do with reality or logic. They are naively stupid and don’t consider the real reason that a tyrant would have for disarming the people. They blindly trust their government and think big Daddy will always have their best interests at heart. Try to get them to tell you what all the Amendments of the Constitution are and they are at a loss for words except for the first two. Ask them about U.S. History and what led to the Constitution and they have no clue.

One's right to self defense in our ever more dangerous world should be fairly easy to understand and to make personal and the threat to take that right away by politicians should be easy to understand and to make personal.

How do you make this personal? Easy...

For example, anyone who was smaller growing up, was picked on for being the new kid in school, different for whatever reason (fat, wore glasses, too poor/too rich, wrong race/color, too smart, too stupid, too ugly, too attractive etc.), is female and vulnerable, is a parent or guardian with kid(s) to protect, is older, is living alone, was a victim or robbery and/or assault, rape, etc. will have little trouble coming to a personal understanding of both the fear of becoming a victim and having the right to self protection taken away.

Starting from this reality...

Your enemy is anyone or anything that wishes to cause you and yours harm. Anyone or anything that increases your vulnerability and/or the danger you face is your enemy.

The truth of our world is this: we are one of three types - sheep, sheepdogs and wolves.

Look closely at the world we live in. "Top of the food chain" is an illusion. We are all "food" for something and, with or without self defense, we all are prey in a world of predators.

Our enemy is anyone or anything that makes us sheep and increases the wolves' the advantage.

I don't recall much protest of its expiration in 2004 ... I and many others protested it for years before it was passed at X-42's urging in 1994.

Actually I was referring to the fact that he said the expired ban and the soon to be proposed ones are similar. Other than both would not have done anything to prevent Sandy Hook, I think the two bills couldn't be more dissimilar.

When these bozos investigate the dangers of mental illness, they need to start with themselves.

Ain't THAT the truth...

McCarthy . . . has reintroduced the weapons ban every year since it expired.

This is different this time, people are more open to it,” she added."

2. psychiatric condition affecting legal circumstances: legal incompetence or irresponsibility that results from a psychiatric disorder

Ahh, yep, that's a pretty good fit.

"...supporters face an uphill climb in a Congress stacked with Republicans and moderate Democrats who support Second Amendment rights..."

And that's a bad thing?

It's a sad commentary on the state of our culture to see any journalist formulate a thought such as the one above. It simply drips with reflexive condescension for one of the primary foundational blocks of our country -- the God-given, inalienable right to keep and bear arms.

The writer speaks of congressional reps who support the Constitution as though they're merely a political voting block, lined up in opposition to fellow lawmakers, who simply support a different angle of attack on some arcane and boring issue that is of little consequence to ordinary Americans.

The writer is obviously so thoroughly indoctrinated into the leftist mindset that he's blind to not only our history and the historical underpinnings of our culture, but also any view which runs counter to the Marxist dogma he's been marinating in, his whole life.

We're not even real to such people.

Time to cowboy up and call and write. The first war is with words. Let’s end it there.

My Congressman, Rep. Barrow (D-GA) is on the record as pro-2A and is on record as “will not support any new gun legislation.”

Barrow also voted against the Fiscal Cliff Bill so that makes him more Conservative than most Republicans in the House.

I wrote and called him today anyway. Just to remind him that we are out here.

The progressives are staging this exactly the way they want.
Take away guns. Use healthcare to send people to prison. Their final step will be the American Holocaust.

Having been born and raised on that side of the political divide, I can tell you that most liberals have never closely inspected what conservatives believe in, and operate solely on the monolithic dogma they've been steeped in their whole lives.

To them, the liberal view is 'normal'. Conservatism is an extremist, dangerous political stance, which conflicts with common sense and all pro-survival considerations -- because 'everybody' says so.

If most people honestly examined both schools of thought, there'd hardly be any liberals in this country. Such examination would have to occur early in a person's social development for it to make a difference, and as we know, the left has a virtual monopoly on the educational establishment.

That, and the fact that they also control the news media and entertainment industry, virtually locks most Americans into enforced liberal indoctrination for much of their lives. It's a most diabolical trap.

Obama extends presidential power in bypassing Congress on gun control

mosesdapoet to Innovative

FIRST YOUR MONEY THEN YOUR GUNS
ALL DEMOCRATS ARE
GOD DENIERS AND CONGENITAL LIARS
Conservatives and supporters of the 2nd amendment the Obama regime is using the 2nd amendment argument to blame gun owners for its inability to deal with the hundreds of gangland murders and shootings commited in areas under their solid control using illegally obtained firearms.

Obama’s solution to those inner city problems is to remove those rights provided by the constitution to have and bear arms from all US citizens.
None of those 23 so called “reforms” and unconstitutional efforts being edicted by who some call an emperor do not deal with the following issues briefly outlined below .

They won’t and don’t instead of creating a uniformly democratic society where every citizen has an equal voice no matter what their race or ethnicity.

Obama’s policies have divided races and ethnic groups gerrymandering congressional districts where much of this criminal activity occurs. GOPES {goverment of the people (republican party) elites} see this issue as a 3rd rail because most of it is black on black or illegal vs illegal (Mexican) activity .

GOPES are also afraid to say that policy also increased racial tension which has resited in deaths. But again GOPES accept this because of the influence of mainline socialist media which would be accusing them of “racism” if they dare to question it.

The purpose of all this hype on guns is to keep the right and conservatives focused on what the Demo-Coms describe as issues through their propaganda arm known as the MSM (mainline socialist media) not on the problems created by the “Libs” on their road of good intentions or the socialist/fascists/communists successors to comtrol over todays Democrat party; Which is the cost ,waste, and corruption of his administration which had led to a 16 trillion dollar deficit.

Not one word will address or offer a solution about the hundreds of gangland murders and shootings using illegaly obtained mostly handguns and revolvers .Using code words like “assault rifles” which are really single shot per trigger pull semi automatic rifles, used for small game hunting or target practice. That are legal in every state but made to look like their military counterpart..Called AR’s since Viet Nam and a DOD decision ARs are really medium caliber (22.3) machine guns designed to wound not necessarilly kill which is why they are automatic and fire as many rounds that are in its magazine once the trigger is kept in the pulled position. .They replace quick kill 30 caliber semi automatic (single shot) M-1, Springfield rifles and carbines used during WWII and Korea and approved in most states for use in big game hunting.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2977901/posts NY Post pix of shooter using handgun

Obama certainly can’t critique a system created by his ilk .Ignored in his 23 edicts is that when once caught, perps get set free with lenient sentencing from “liberal” judges or sob sister plea bargain prosecution (which Obama supports for when a Illinois state senator while introducing legislation to sentence any 15 year old as an adult, Obama voted “absent” with others on roll call ) promoted by the MSM,The New York Times CNN, NBC and,ABC. There’s certainly no criticism of “no snitch” mentality partcularly in areas where these shootings are rampant.

It would be nice at these rallys if speakers would point these facts out to Obamas adoring public.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. Remember, if the 2nd amendment is not safe, none are. As a matter of fact any law that hampers the advancement of their socialist/marxist world view needs to be demolished. These people are evil and I don’t say that flippantly.

Remember, if the 2nd amendment is not safe, none are.

The one and only reason that this country bears any resemblance to its former self, is because of the 2nd Amendment.

The left has reduced the American people to near serfdom as it is, through infringements and violations of the Constitution, but without the RKBA, there's no question that we would have become a de facto Communist country by now.

If the left believes that further infringements of our last remaining bulwark against totalitarian Socialism will be tolerated, they're more willfully ignorant than I thought.

This country has been a tinderbox since at least the beginning of the new millenium. We've rarely been so deeply divided as a people in our history. Passions are running so hot on both sides, that it won't take much to spark a real breakdown in the civil order.

A new 'assault weapons' ban just might be the spark that ignites something that the left and the government are powerless to stop. Unfortunately for them, such a conflagration will result in an end to rampant leftism in America, and a full return to the form of government laid down in our Constitution.

Their intention is to smash and destroy the last citadel of Western Civ, in order to replace it with their socialist utopian nightmare on a global scale.

Nothing less.

It is so obvious for those who have eyes to see. For those who can look at themselves in the mirror, it is as plain as the nose on their face. What saddens me is if these evil folks succeed, with the help of the useful idiots, the useful idiots who deserve their fate will be taking us down along with them.
