I totally agree with you, but we have to understand who is running our Govt. now - avowed Enemies of America, including the marxist Panetta. This is so wrong, and if it stands, if Congress goes along with this, then we are cooked. Which is just what Barry Soetoro, et.al., want. To have a young woman take a slot away from a young man when there is absolutely no way she could ever be physically or mentally qualified means the standards will be tanked even further.

Apparently Congress has nothing to do with it anymore. It’s all up to the Marxist Peneta. Was I sleeping when Congress said it was fine? Am I missing something here? Woman in combat has ALWAYS been banned by Congress, but of course when Democrats are in power they ignore Congress. So can someone tell me when Congress lifted the ban?

I don’t think Congress did lift the ban. When I hear these women say they can’t get ahead in the military without combat experience, I just want to retch. The Jerk-in-Chief and Panetta are purging our military of anyone who still cares about this country. Putting women on the front lines may well drive out the remaining Patriots, leaving only those who are willing to go after Americans on American Soil. Career advancement, my arse. this is about the impending civil war.
While they are primarily in support roles, women in the IDF are not exclusively so. Several served in combat roles in the Lebanon war in 2006, one killed in action I believe.
So how many qualified men will be replaced by women to fill a quota? I know feminists and the politically correct will deny it, but men are stronger, faster, and can carry heavier loads. Thems the facts, Jack. Physical fitness standards for men in the military have already been lowered because they were too high for women. Now this?
Those fox holes, combat outposts and helicopters will then need to have ladies rooms. What’s next? Hiring the handicapped?

My nephew (Army major, West Point grad) is being deployed for the 2nd time to Afghanistan, after 2 tours in Iraq as well. My advice to him is to AVOID combat encounters as much as he can, and to steer around them if it appears inevitable. I would hate most of all to see him take a bullet for that RAT bastard 0bama, or to be prosecuted on some trumped up charge, due to a split second decision. We now have a good number of soldiers spending 10 yrs to life in prison because of a split second decision in firing or being fired upon, and then being hauled up on murder charges.
The U.S. military is now a giant, pandering, capitulating, politically correct social experiment for 0dumb0, his muzzlim collaborators, the LGBT and socialist radicals. I tell anyone these days, DON'T GO IN. You may be another casuality on 0dumb0's girdle.

The last federal court ruling on why women are not subject to the draft is because women were prohibited by federal law from the combat positions that were mostly being drafted for.

Put members of the opposite sex together in any organization and there’s going to be fraternization. Put them in situations where they are away from their spouses, facing constant danger or long stretches of boredom, and human nature will trump discipline. The most intriguing part of the article is to Tito’s strict policy against fraternization in his Yugoslav army during the war, where the penalty was death. There were apparently dozens of his troops executed for this offense. If people are willing to risk death in exchange for some human affection in a war zone, then lesser punishment is not going to have a major effect.

Not very many, I think four and only one was enlisted. All this will do is push more women into the Navy and Air Force. Everyone in uniform knows that regardless of your job or branch that you have a bullseyes painted on your back.
I could attest that women don't really hold up in stressful environments and I have never been in a combat situation. I have seen female supervisors break down and cry. All the bravado is from pilots or officer types.
I think it’ll ultimately be a wash, because few women will volunteer from infantry front-line duty. However... for those who do, not a single standard should be lowered in training to ease the path for them. Whatever their male counterparts must accomplish, so must they.
Won't happen. Based on current male standards few females would be on active duty. They could run and all but loaded down with equipment, nah.
They will just change the regs to accomodate women. Now stretchers are a four person job because two women can't lift a stretcher with an average sized guy and if they could they would not get very far.

And that, unfortunately, is **EXACTLY** the problem.
The primary legal ground for drafting only men rather than both men and women is the combat exclusion. Eliminate the combat exclusion and the Supreme Court will probably have no way to avoid declaring the Selective Service system unconstitutional.
That's merely a formality today. There may be a day it is not a formality at all.
I'm afraid this is going to come back and bite big time in ways that the women who want a combat MOS never expected.
It's one thing to let women volunteer for something (leaving aside the question of whether or not they can do it without lowering the standards). It is a very different thing to start drafting women.
