It's not just Obama who is hostile to an armed public, and the hostility isn't "new." The point of regulations is to reduce the rate of gun ownership over time - generations, if that's what it takes. Some people will be criminalized out of possession, some will be killed over it, others will drop out of ownership because the administrative hoops are a hassle. The courts will UNIFORMLY enforce most regulation. Federal appellate courts have upheld bans on 11 round magazines, post-Heller.

That the sheriffs won't enforce federal laws is a freebie, a throwaway line. They don't and can't enforce ANY federal law. That is outside of their jurisdiction.

I don't have the answer or a solution, but until the public realizes that the government is hostile, the ratchet is only going to work against the public.

Not quite true; they can effect a citizen's arrest -- just like any other citizen can.
