This infographic is floating around Facebook.
And according to PolitiFact (and the FBI) it’s true.
Our ruling
The post uses data selectively, ignoring the significant role of handguns in gun violence. But the statistics it mentions are solid. FBI data backs up the Facebook post’s claim that in 2011, more people were murdered with knives, “hands or feet” or “clubs and hammers” than with any type of rifle. We rate the statement True.

It is true. You can open your local paper, and bean-count over an entire month. Violent assault can be accomplished through many avenues. You could die by virtue of your wife and a frying pan, or your neighbor with a canoe paddle. In fact, it might be a higher chance of being killed by a family member over an argument, than some gun nut hyped up on meds.
They left out handguns. I hate misleading ads of any political persuasion.

Woman Kills boyfriend with her boobs

Using her large breasts as a lethal weapon, a 51-year old woman strangled her boy friend after an altercation, the Huffington Post has reported.
The killer breasts, police said, belong to Donna Lange, a huge woman from Everett, Washington, United states.
Police said Lange suffocated her boyfriend to death with her breasts in their mobile house at about 12.45 a.m. recently.
According to Seattle’s KIRO 7 Eyewitness News, Lange’s 51-year-old alleged boyfriend was later pronounced dead at Swedish Medical Centre, Washington
KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reported that witnesses claimed they saw Lange throw her boyfriend down in the back of the mobile home. She was later found by witnesses with her chest covering the victim’s face.
Police noted the size difference between Lange and her boyfriend — she was 5-feet, 6-inches and 192 pounds, he was 5-feet, 7-inches and 175 pounds.
They left out handguns because the specific issue is so-called assault rifles. Rifles are the issue in this comparison.

I do not see it misleading at all. All the focus has been on rifles recently.
If you try to include everything, you end up with more than people can digest.
I rate politifact as left leaning. They had to find something to denigrate the ad with.

Baloney. They intentionally left out the weapon used for most murders - handguns. If you are going to compare rifles vs knives then you have to include handguns. sorry. We have enough problems as it is fighting the anti-gun agenda without misleading ads that anyone with a lick of sense can see through. ... I also doubt the anti-gun crowd will be satisfied just going after rifles. What they want to is outlaw all guns and disarm us.
I think when PolitiFact’s “Lie of the Year” turned out to be not a lie, but in fact true, that pretty much destroyed any credibility that outfit may have had.
You don’t think they will go after semi-automatic handguns? When they ban clips larger than 10 or whatever you think they will exclude handguns? Look at Australia. That is what they want to do here except they have a lot more guns to deal with.
