That would be a problem. Then we will end up with a mostly democratic bill with just enough repub votes to get passed just like the plan b fiasco. One way or the other they will end up passing something. I would like to see them introduce a bill to eliminate baseline budgeting. Then a continuing resolution wouldn’t be an automatic increase.

RE :”These ( Can Kickers) need to be retired. Remember ( Not to decide is to decide)”

Well many here jumped on that complete fantasy that Bohner was going somewhere, but as I easily predicted not on in the house would run against him because not one wants his job.

In December I posted a challenge here about 10 times : call your favority uber-Tea Party conservative and tell him to run for Speaker, and nothing. Not one, not Lou Gohart of TX wants that job.

So a few voted for Mickey mouse and Donald Duck for speaker completely meaningless.

So we can choose Bohner or choose Obama because that is all there is and will be, as you said, not choosing is choosing (Obama)

And never liked Bohnrer but living in fantasy just brings disaster.

Bohner has (from what I heard not sourced) in this GOP retreat acted as a leader and got Ryan and VO to lecture their members on how their mission is to beat Dems and not just play silly suicide games that help O. It sounds like the 'express yourself' hippy class is over and the leadership has started, FINALLY!

This 3 month extension is the first step.

Pelosi as Speaker was a fighter leader and she didnt tolerate personal agendas that hurt her mission to defeat Rs and then use that power AFTER WINNING ELECTIONS to get her agenda in law.

Thursday a 'I demand the that the House GOP blow it all up' nutbag made the mistake of a personal attack on me so I did a bit of comment diving and unearthed a slew of comments by him before the election saying that this country was dead and not worth defending and that he didn't care which party won the election. That is what we are dealing with, if I was a Dem I would come here and post EXACTLY what he does.

My understanding was the “Big battle” over the debt ceiling was ‘scheduled’ for this March. So this is just to get us to the “real battle” ...where the Repubs will probably agree to jack it up even more.

LOL... OK, it's not really funny.

I don't think it's that, as much as it is that an unsuccessful run spells the end of a Republican's career.

Smart move... force that fossilized scumbag Reid to finally DO something.
Meanwhile, the African communist can just wait for three months wondering what the Republicans might be up to.

This is a good idea. Each time it comes up just increase it enough for a couple of month so Obama has to come back over and over begging to borrow more money while never offering to cut a thing. It will keep the focus on the tab the progressive socialists keep running up.

That's a good point.

Career?? I have thought this out so please consider it.

Here's the thing, he was against plan B, voted against the final resulting worse (but better than nothing) tax bill, and he voted against Bohner.

Obviously his bright Red district rewards him for these purely symbolical acts that do not in any way endear himself with the GOP House leadership. So he has a 100% safe seat and doesnt care what they think.

Him not running made sure that Bohner won.
But more-so he in no way wants Bohners job himself to put up with the same crap.

Lou's job now is to please voters of a small red district.
As Speaker he has to worry about all in his his caucus not just the (about 30%) ones in 100% safe districts like Lou.

I appreciate your sincere question. I was a critic of Bohner long before most 2008 but it is obvious that O is the only alternative to him now.

I would like to see them introduce a bill to eliminate baseline budgeting.

THAT would be the key to everything. The politicians would no longer be able to talk out both sides of their mouths, ie., a reduction in the baseline budget automatic increase is a "cut in spending", yet the increase that remains is still... an "increase in spending".

Just to add, if Bohner was to force through amnesty and/or gun control bills with Dem votes I would take a different view and be the first to curse him.

But after the GOP losing election, and none of the ‘fwightened nothin at all should passinto law wabbits’ refusing to step up themselves and challenge Bohner as Speaker,
I just cant call for destroying the only opposition party to O because they refuse to take on fights they will most certainly lose and O win, like that tax fight.

RE :”Translation: KICK THE CAN DOWN THE ROAD (once again). WHY AM I NOT SURPRISED.

I know better than to expect more than that
Now they have lined up the debt limit, automatic budget cuts and CR end date to the same time, And they are demanding that Reid pass a budget between now and then.
So I assume they are thinking of using all these together in some way when O starts demanding they pass them again in three months.

Krauthammer wrote a column pointing out the obvious, Rs lost the election. They expected to take the Senate and the WH and instead lost seats in the Senate and House. So expecting Republicans in House to force the other two Dem houses to do things that they swore they wouldnt do as if they were both Republican controlled is unrealistic.

Here are some things the House can (not) do by itself: No amnesty, no gun bans, no VAWA extension, no adding public plan to O care, all things Dems are calling for the House to do. Those are all places to make last stands. Let see O force the House to do those the way many here expect Bohner to force the WH and Senate to pass things.

Lets see Reid get his Dems to vote for banning guns.

I ask myself why the Republicans always let the Democrats control the narrative and why do they always give in then I realize at the end of the day the Republicans are for more spending and more debt too.

Kraut made a key point that I been posting for a long time: when the R House takes on these losing fights they will in the end always cave because they never turn public opinion against the D POTUS.

And by then after drawing endless media attention for months over the current crisis over it the cave is totally humiliating leaving them even more disliked by everyone.

Back in late 2008 I was posting some specific advise to Rs, to start taking on battles you/they can win and work your way up to bigger ones as Obama gets less popular compared to you. The current expectations are completely unrealistic, some delusional.

Last, we got some automatic budget cuts coming up, hopefully Rs wont delay them again. They shouldn’t even be talking about them. When they go into effect Rs should pounce on any negative consequences, thinking military cuts. O is the commander and chief, let him command.

To add to : #50
If any of the Tea party ‘conservatives’ in the House were serious they would have stepped up and ran themselves, after all Bohner got re-elected after passing that tax bill that was endlessly complained about here (’Bohner sold us out again;)
Louie Gohmert (TX-01) voted against Bohner so he obviously is not looking for his favors.
But he voted for someone not running, totally irrelevant.

It was Bohner or Pelosi, that was it.

So Lou had a chance to make a case against Bohner by running. Imagine this:
I am running for Speaker Because this House leadership is going in the wrong direction. We were not sent here to keep things running. We were sent here to stop things from running. Elect me and I will act on principle.
No CR, no more borrowing money and since the voters demanded tax cuts ‘on the rich’ by reelecting O then they can pay higher taxes too. We will see how they like their POTUS OBAMA”

It would be glorious,

But no, his meaningless symbolic safe 'no' votes are all he offers. I dont think they are serious.

I dont think they are serious.

At this point, I believe that Congress has entered the looting stage. They're grabbing what they can before the ship goes down.

I look around me, and I wonder how many people have any idea of what's coming.
