Republicans should execute 'Maneuver X'
Washington Examiner ^ | Wednesday, January 16, 2013 | Phillip Klien

...

Over the past two years, Republicans have ... viewed every potential crisis -- a possible government shutdown, the threat of a debt ceiling breach and the prospect of the nation sailing over the "fiscal cliff" -- as an opportunity to corner Obama into agreeing to tackle the nation's mounting debt problem.

This strategy has created a dynamic in which Obama has successfully portrayed Republicans as reckless, incapable of governance and willing to put the economy at risk to make a political statement. He's been able to deflect questions about his own lack of action on deficits by blaming Republican intransigence. ... There has been no action on entitlements. Obama has claimed credit for the modest spending cuts Republicans forced him to accept. He was re-elected, and Republicans failed to capture the Senate.

...Regardless of one's views about the economic consequences of not raising the debt limit or the definition of "default," even the debate diverts attention from the underlying problem -- Obama's refusal to show leadership on entitlements.

Consider, then, "Maneuver X." ... It would mean that Republicans remove all pressure. They should give Obama his debt limit increases without preconditions, and they shouldn't allow any government shutdowns.

Meanwhile, Republicans should use their majority in the House to pass bills that actually do address the nation's problems -- its economic stagnation, rising energy and health care costs, mounting debt and so on. At the same time, they can keep blocking major new expansions of government.

This two-pronged strategy would allow Republicans to isolate Obama and establish themselves as the responsible ones. If he refuses to get serious about addressing the nation's debt problem, it will be a lot harder to escape responsibility if he can't point and say, "Hey, look over there, House Republicans want to blow stuff up."

If you want to know more about "Maneuver X," read about it at the link. It really doesn't add much to the article.

From the article:

The House Republicans have been doing this. And the bills go to the Senate where exactly nothing happens. Virtually no one knows about the great bills the House Republicans have passed because the pubbies can't get positive stories from the government controlled press.

Republicans lose either way. Might as well shut down the government, take out ads blaming the Democrts and force the rats to spend their 2014 campaign money defending it. Basically financially bust all of Obamas cronies.

The way you beat the rats is to bankrupt them. Reagan taught us that with the Soviets. It’s time to take a page out of his playbook.

This article is pure crap. It is Obama that uses crises to play political games. The answer is certainly not to just give Obama everything he wants. The Republicans albeit RINOs do have some power and should use it to negotiate and extract some concessions for Obama. Obama will ultimately win but he should pay a price. At least put a few poison pills in there so chokes on a few hair balls

You outmaneuver him by telling the public that he is lying. Over and over, point out the lies. Over and over, tell the public who he is and what he is.
He’s won by lying.. remove that one weapon he’s using. Over and over.

Regardless of one's views about the economic consequences of not raising the debt limit or the definition of "default," even the debate diverts attention from the underlying problem -- Obama's refusal to show leadership on entitlements... "Maneuver X." ... Republicans remove all pressure... give Obama his debt limit increases without preconditions... shouldn't allow any government shutdowns. Meanwhile... use their majority in the House to pass bills that actually do address... economic stagnation, rising energy and health care costs, mounting debt and so on. At the same time, they can keep blocking major new expansions of government. This two-pronged strategy would allow Republicans to isolate Obama and establish themselves as the responsible ones.
If this were coupled with Operation Pianowire, to eliminate the Partisan Media Shills over a reasonably short interval, Maneuver X would be sure to work. As it stands, it's probably the only strategy available at the current time.

Joe Wilson was the first to say it. ‘You Lie!’
It didn’t work out well for him because the MSM lambasted him.
Frankly, I wished he would have run for President, as he was the only one, besides Herman Cain, to say it like it is.
Any Pube who stands up is a roasted goose. There is no winning this game. The two teams are now basically one.
The determined socialists formally known as Democrats and the fearful reluctant socialists, or useful idiots, formally known as Republicans.
A distinction without a difference. Since you can’t win on principal any longer, you go for the popular vote. It’s so much easier.
And sufficient portion of the populous has now been trained to accept and even favor socialism.
The only losers are We The People of the Republic formally known as America, and her conservative values.

Too many voters historically called ‘Reagan Dems’ have been completely snowed into believing the continuous lies over decades.
Conservatives and their principals have been systematically demonized. Pubes have run from the conservative message at every turn.

This war is lost. And it is corporate Media who have lost it for us. I blame them even more than I do the politicians. I despise them.
And the layers of sinister lies in ‘news’ seems to be a 1000 times greater now than when Nixon or when Reagan ran.
Garnering enough electoral votes isn’t working any more. People are too dumbed down.
If Media is not forced to change, then changing that dynamic is not possible.

The only answers I see remaining: Stock up; buckle down; teach your kids survival.
Oh, and cut your cable, and quit buying the junk they advertise, but that’s part of ‘buckle down’ I suppose.

Let’s watch Rand Paul, who is one Pube presently trying to point out Obama’s obvious duplicity, and see how fast he becomes the non-stop target of vitriol and lies. See how long before he runs away. Look how badly Michele Bachmann was beaten up, and observe how she has become relatively silent.

I too, blame the media more than anyone. And nevermind the name calling.. don’t back down and never stop telling the public the truth. If someone would stand firm and do it right, the media could not stop that person or persons. It’s the timidity that gives the media the opportunity they take. It’s the hesitancy with the first name calling that eggs the media on. The right person can turn all that back to the media or to the moderator... it can be done, but to be afraid of the name calling and/or labels.. forget it.. just do what is right and do it with style and firmness.. don’t back down and don’t flinch. Political correctness is killing this country... it’s a tool the left uses to make the right pull back, shut up and stop... why do they let the left use it. I, for one, do not know. Weakness on our side lets the left liberals take it all... they bully their way through .. they can be stopped, but where are the strong men/women who will do it.. to stand for the right, in spite of what they throw at them. Sarah came as close as anyone to do this. She stood alone, for the most part, and took the media on. Where were the men in Congress to stand with her. Afraid? Yes. Sad? Yes.

You outmaneuver him by telling the public that he is lying.

Except the government sponsored press won't provide the pubbies a proper venue so they can do this. Occasionally a pubbie will try this on a Sunday morning talk show. But they are immediately attacked by the liberal majority.

Just don’t quit... the left media will give air time if it helps them with viewers. They believe they can make hay out of a conservative. But if the conservative knows how to deal with them, he/she can do the job. If they had Rush on, he can talk a good game. They’d have him on if he’d do it, but he won’t go on their networks. It would have to be live and it would be tough, but for someone who isn’t timid or afraid of them... the media could easily be put on the defensive. Turn their questions back on them.. make them ask fair and revelant questions.. if they don’t, then tell them they aren’t.. don’t let them steer the subjects, don’t let them talk over you... don’t let them control the interview...just keep them on the defensive all the time. It can be done... it just takes the person with this ability to do it. IMHO
