Obama extends presidential power in bypassing Congress on gun control

During the past two years as his frustration with a "dysfunctional" Congress has grown, President Barack Obama has resorted to bypassing the legislative branch as he did on Wednesday to implement tighter gun control laws.

"Where they won't act, I will," he said in October 2011 as part of a "We Can't Wait" campaign he launched 10 months after Republicans took over the U.S. House of Representatives.

Since then, the president has turned to executive orders, policy directives, waivers, signing statements and other administrative steps to bypass Congress and act on contentious issues, including immigration, welfare, education reform and now gun violence.

Acting in response to the shooting rampage in Newtown, Connecticut, Obama announced 23 executive actions Wednesday designed to ensure guns don't get into the wrong hands. He also called on Congress to ban the sale of assault rifles, limit the size of ammunition clips and require background checks for all gun sales.

Read President Obama’s New, Proposed Executive Orders and Legislation on Guns

http://www.slate.com/blogs/weigel/2013/01/16/read_president_obama_s_new_proposed_executive_orders_and_legislation_on.html

I don’t know about “proposed” executive orders, I thought he said he already signed them, so they are in effect.

So, what are the odds on the apparently neutered Republicans’ calling this (unconstitutional and wholly illegal) bluff?

I’m calling 85/15 they are spineless. Any takers?

Local gun range?

How about we bump the date back a few months (to get the word out) and we take our guns OPEN CARRY to DC?

I KNOW many, many, many of our local conservative talkers could get the support, I just question those pussies by the names of Rush, Hannity or Levin to hop on board. Only thing I can count on their type for is to "reach across the isle".

Conservatives and supporters of the 2nd amendment the Obama regime is using the 2nd amendment argument to blame gun owners for its inability to deal with the hundreds of gangland murders and shootings commited in areas under their solid control using illegally obtained firearms.

Their solution to those inner city problems is to remove those rights provided by the constitution to have and bear arms from all US citizens.
None of those 23 so called “reforms” and unconstitutional efforts being edicted by who some call an emporer do not deal with the following issues briefly outlined below .

They won’t because instead of creating a uniformly democratic society where every citizen has an equal voice no matter what their race or ethnicity.

Obama’s policies have grouped races and ethnic groups by gerrymandering congressional districts where much of this criminal activity occurs. GOPES {goverment of the people (republican party) elites} see this issue as a 3rd rail because most of it is black on black or illegal vs illegal (Mexican) activity .

GOPES are also afraid to say that policy may have also increased racial tension but again GOPES accept this because of the influence of mainline socialist media which would be accusing them of “racism” if they dare to question it.

The purpose of all this hype on guns is to keep the right and conservatives focused on what the Demo-Coms describe as issues through their propaganda arm known as the MSM (mainline socialist media) not on the problems created by the “Libs” on their road of good intentions or the socialist/fascists/communists successors to comtrol over todays Democrat party; Which is the budget

Not one word will address or offer a solution about the hundreds of gangland murders and shootings using illegaly obtained mostly handguns and revolvers .Not “assault weapons” which are really single shot per trigger pull rifles. Used for small game hunting or target practice. That are made to look like their military counterpart. which by the way since Viet Nam and a DOD decision are small caliber and designed to wound not necessarilly kill which is why they are automatic and fire many rounds once the trigger is in the pulled position. .

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2977901/posts NY Post pix of shooter using handgun

Obama certainly can’t critique a system created by his ilk .Ignored in his 23 edicts is that when once caught, perps get set free with lenient sentencing from “liberal” judges or sob sister plea bargain prosecution promoted by the MSM,The New York Times CNN, NBC and,ABC. There’s certainly no criticism of “no snitch” mentality partcularly in areas where these shootings are rampant.

It would be nice at these rallys if speakers would point these facts out to Obamas adoring public.

I just love how this bucking fastard said that 70% of Americans, including NRA members, supported the measures. I doubt his numbers, but even if true, now all of a sudden he cares what the people think? Anywhere from 58 - 62% of Americans didn’t want Obozocare, but he pushed it through anyhow. Lying sack of shite just uses whatever doublespeak he needs on any given day.

The President has no rights over the 2nd amendment. Nor does the Congress or the Supreme court. The 2nd amendment is an inalienable right to the people of the United States. Inalienable means it can not be taken away. Also, the amendment states that it cannot be infringed meaning it cannot be modified. There is nothing that the government can do to change this except dissolve the Union and start over.

It is no longer a problem for the ballot box.Other courses of action may be necessary. It's time for the Citizens of the United States to tell Washington we have had enough and tell them to keep their hands off the Bill of Rights. They have no business there!!

THE WALL STREET JOURNAL

01/16/13
Weapon Makers See Danger in Cooperating Over Safety

Gun makers see a danger in working with the government that can be summed up in one name: Smith & Wesson.

BY Gary Fields

Ben Kesling and James R. Hagerty contributed to this article.

The article is only available to subscribers.

In summary the writer speaks to the fact that a few gun makers have cooperated with the government and have been basically bankrupted when gun owners chose to no longer do business with them.

Here are a couple of quotes from the article:

“Led by gun-rights groups, dealers stopped carrying Smith & Wessons products, and buyers melted away. the company was eventually sold for a fraction of what Tomkins initially paid.

“If you think you can buy your peace with your enemy you are sadly mistaken and you will suffer a severe backlash from the consumer, one senior industry executive said.”

They are not hard to build at all. I had most of the parts on hand as I have been buying components as I can afford them. The cost to build right now is high as are complete rifles. Supply is low and demand his high. I do think that in a few months, things will settle down. Right now it is a sellers market.
