NRA planning ‘the fight of the century’ against Obama
The Washington Post's Post Politics ^ | January 16, 2013 | Sari Horwitz

The National Rifle Association cast its opposition to Obama’s plans as “the fight of the century” in a letter circulated at the 35th annual Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade Show and Conference, known in the trade as “the SHOT show,” in Las Vegas.

“I warned you this day was coming and now it’s here,” Wayne LaPierre, the NRA’s fiery executive vice president, wrote in a fund-raising letter to the group’s 4 million members. “It’s not about protecting your children. It’s not about stopping crime. It’s about banning your guns … PERIOD!”

The letter reflected the NRA’s tough, no-holds-barred campaign against tighter restrictions on weapons and echoed a sharp video released by the group that calls Obama an “elitist hypocrite” for having the Secret Service protect his two daughters at school while saying that he is “skeptical” about armed guards in all schools.

The SHOT show draws more than 60,000 gun enthusiasts, dealers and manufacturers to see the latest weapons and accoutrements. The convention floor contains 12 miles of firearms displays, mostly military-style assault rifles, and many booths display the kinds of high-capacity clips the administration wants to ban.

On Wednesday, the brass from the NRA and other gun-advocacy groups spent the day in closed-door sessions planning a response to Obama’s proposals, according to people close to the groups who spoke on condition their names not be used in describing internal deliberations...

Naw, he was bashed for not doing well at debates. He should have done better, but the primaries showed that GOP voters are basically stupid and want a liberal. I don’t blame any ‘elites’. I blame the base.

agreed, if we’re going to stop this madness then we need to go after the media, it is they who are informing the low info voters out there and the sad part is that these low info voters actually hear the media and then repeat the talking points to their family , neighbors and friends

I'm relieved, for the moment, that 0b0z0 didn't try to institute a background check for picking up a couple of boxes of ammo.

That inefficiency, alone, could sink the economy.

“It’s not about protecting your children. It’s not about stopping crime. It’s about banning your guns … PERIOD!”

True. The public schools manufacture these screwed up kids by the thousands each year. There hasn't been one thing done about it. Not one.
Ritalin in made in Sweden. 80% of all the medication they make is sent to the US.. School aged boys are the biggest beneficiary of these drugs.

At least fourteen recent school shootings were committed by those taking or withdrawing from psychiatric drugs. There have been 109 wounded and 58 killed. Of these 14, seven were seeing either a psychiatrist (5 of them) or psychologist (2 of them). It is not known whether or not the other half were seeing a psychiatrist, as it has not been published.

There is no Dr patient confidentiality when the patient is dead. The focus should be on what treatment and what drugs was Adam Lanza on?? instead of what guns he used.! Why is there no cry for the banning of psychotropic drugs??? The politicians prefer to go after the guns! They want to "treat the symptoms" rather than attack the disease.
There's no need to ask why. We know why.

He was rightly bashed because although great on 2A and land/energy, he is abysmal in other areas. His HPV fiasco was a campaign wrecker for one. Telling people they must inject their kids is not a conservative value.

“...Mr. Lee Harvey Oswald...”

Hmmm...brings up a question...Assuming, of course, that one actually BELIEVES the Warren Commission and that Oswald did it alone with his Arlen Specter-approved “Magic Bullet”...

Did Oswald use an “assault Mannlicher-Carcano Bolt Action Rifle”...or did he simply “assault” JFK with a crappy old bolt-action Italian rifle???

And since the Mannlicher-Carcano had a bayonet lug, an internal “magazine” which was loaded by evil “clips” and an extremely EEEEEEEEEEEEVIL telescope...did that make it more or less deadly than a modern day “assault” rifle sitting in your gun cabinet that hasn’t shot anyone...???

I mean it’s guess it’s even MORE EVILER because he got it through the horrific “Mail-Order Loophole” waaaaay back in the early 1960s, when Americans were still free to purchase whatever they wanted, could have it shipped to their doorstep, and America was just such a vi’lint, eeevil, white supremacist rayycist nation an’ all..

I mean...I’m jus’ wonderin’ an all... there must have been THOUSANDS of dead chilruns back then in the bad ol’ days... when Americans had all them guns... back before we had gun control to “save just ONE life!”

Yeah, he had a major faults. But was still better than Romney. And if he had won he’d maybe do 1/5 of these EO’s and never pressure congress for an AWB. I think Romney would’ve pushed for an AWB as well.

His record in mass pretty much pointed the odds in that direction.

But the whole thing is that (may be too late) we have to stop fielding half-conservatives to begin with. Because we are now living the results of that REALLY bad idea with the Bhoners et all of the House and Senate.

Wait till they start pushing the average hunting scoped 30-06 as a sniper rifle. Because in reality, that’s exactly what it is and does. To very great distances and with great accuracy.

And it’s WAY more deadly in anything but a spray and pray situation.

I would much rather see the NRA attack Odinga on the basis of being a traitor to his oath of office to defend the Constituion.

Also, everytime a Representative or Senator within the Beltway or at the State level opens their mouth about removing our 2nd Amendment rights, the NRA attack dogs would be unleashed on them driving them back into a dark cold corner never to be heard from again.

Challenge them for their failure to uphold their oath.

Challenge them for the traitors that they are

Repeat their names over and over again in commercials on the radio and TV.

Call for their state to have them recalled

These Representatives and Senators are the ones that have to be ground down to dust.

“...hunting scoped 30-06 as a sniper rifle....”

Nahh....COULDN’T be...it doesn’t have an evil “pistol grip”...doesn’t have an evil “bayonet lug”...doesn’t have an evil “30-round ‘clip’”...or an evil “flash suppressor”...or made of black umm, err, whatever it’s made of...yeah...that’s the ticket...

Why, jes’ ever’body KNOWS that that be’s the ONLY criteria for an “assault rifle!”

And that li’l ol’ deer rifle is only for Deer, after all, Norm!!!

I know...

It’s common knowledge that a projectile about 5 times the size backed by a lot more explosive pressure fired from a longer barrel with more accuracy can only hit deer in forest.

I know that. I do. But these libs get some really strange ideas so who knows..

No-holds-barred, eh? Why is the 86 FOPA with the Hughes Amendment still on the books? Why was the 94 AWB allowed to pass?

I mean, after all...

...you can only Deer with a “deer rifle”

...you can only hunt hogs with a “hog rifle”

...you can only hunt goose and turkey with a shotgun

... and only “assault rifles” were made for “killing and only killing!!!” (You have to say that part with your voice rising to a near-hysterical shriek, full of righteous liberal anger...and then end it with “Our Children!!!!!” so da wimmin folk voters get good an lathered up).

It’s how it works, after all...

Back in my misspent youth, I had grandpa’s 32 Special out one day and discorporated a squirrel. Since we know that a gun like that is made for somewhat different uses, I was unsurprised when the bits of flesh reformed into a squirrel and it went on it’s merry way.

Proof positive that once designated to a certain category, a gun can only do that thing and none other.

So it’s obvious that without assault weapons, assaults will immediately cease.

Praise Obama and his wisdom!
