Fox Nation ^ | Jan 16 | Staff

The following is a list, provided by the White House, of executive actions President Obama plans to take to address gun violence.

1. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal agencies to make relevant data available to the federal background check system.

2. Address unnecessary legal barriers, particularly relating to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, that may prevent states from making information available to the background check system.

Agreed. Nothing like what I imagined he would do.

HIPAA requires that medical information is to be kept confidential from anybody without the patient's consent. It may be that the administration intends to allow information about the "diagnosed" mental instability of an individual to made available in a background check.

Given the left-wing bias of the APA, it won't be long until everybody is diagnosed with some type of unprovable impairment that would exclude them for lawfully possessing a firearm.

13. Maximize enforcement efforts to prevent gun violence and prosecute gun crime.

That's the one on the list that concerns me most. Very broad and lacking definition.

That’s the most nefarious of all of them. When your doctor asks you tell them NO. It’s NONE of their business!

Launch a national safe and responsible gun ownership campaign.

This one, in particular, sounds ominous.

Is that the theme from "Jaws" I hear in the background?

Yes. That is the one I was thinking of when I posted my comments. Number 2 is actually about Hipaa, but related.

And his clarification regarding 16 is wrong. Nice try Osama.

Personally, I think the NRA should work to make guns safe, legal, and rare.

“Let’s see, he says rights are denied to those killed by gun violence.”

How about the rights denied to babies that survive abortion? He is all for letting them die unattended!

There is no way Diane’s bill will pass in it’s current form if at all.

Agreed. These bullet points read like what you'd see in a corporate retreat where the company is failing and everyone has been asked to provide ways to keep the company healthy and alive. A lot of bullet points, no real content, e.g. - "Let's all try to do better".

There were three completely irrelevant references to the ACA in the bullet points.

Number two refers to a specific clause in the affordable health care act that protects patients from intrusive questions about guns.

That clause in the Affordable Care Act does not prevent Drs. from asking. It prevents Drs. and Insurance entities from creating a database with the answers and using such data to deny coverage or increase premiums. They can ask all they want. See EO #16.

“This is the one that should scare everyone:
13. Maximize enforcement efforts to prevent gun violence and prosecute gun crime.”

Yep, nice and vague and open to interpretation. That statement will be used for a lot of civil rights violations.

Massive increase in centralized control and oversight.

Republicans still control the House, right? They have oversight over agencies and their funding, right?

“If a doctor asked me that question, I wouldn’t answer and would never visit that doctor again.”

That question was on a form I completed at a new doctor I was going to about two years ago. I answered the question with another question: “Why the hell am I being asked this question to begin with? What does this have to do with my health care?” I’m sure it was duly submitted to the proper DHS intel gathering center.

Read between the lines people....

Prepare to be labeled "crazy" and / or put on a terrorist watch list....Then disarmed.

Obama is evil, he's feminine, he's a marxist, BUT HE IS NOT DUMB.

He's done exactly what we were worried about and folks aren't seing it !

How about rolling back 50 years of liberalism that has convinced people that there is no right and no wrong?
How about rolling back the abortion culture that teaches people that human life is worthless?
How about getting guns out of the hands of violent criminals?
