REPORT: Assad Has Left Syria For A Warship In The Mediterranean

Russian warship sent to Mediterranean in July

After nearly two years of conflict and 117,000 displaced Syrians UPI reports Syrian President Bashar Assad and his family have left the country and live aboard a warship manned with Russian security.

UPI cites an Al-Watan report claiming Assad's family are somewhere in the Mediterranean Sea and that the semi-deposed president travels back to the country by helicopter for meetings and receptions.

From UPI:

When he flies to his embattled country, the president lands at undisclosed locations and is transported to the presidential palace under heavy guard, the sources said. The Russian-guarded warship provides a safe environment for Assad, who has lost confidence in his own security detail, the report said.

Assad's presence on the warship suggests he has been granted political asylum by Russia but there has been no official comment from Moscow, the newspaper said. Assad's presence on the ship could be a sign of looming negotiations on the conflict in Syria, the report said.

While negotiations continue stumbling toward a beginning, Assad can take little comfort in the rebels growing proficiency with surface-to-air missiles. Man Portable Air Defense Systems (MANPADS) have been appearing with great frequency among rebel forces and it only takes one shot to take down a helicopter flying in off the coast.

Assad may take some comfort residing offshore, but if the reports are true, that ride back in must be tense.

Why would Assad leave Syria for a warship, or to worship a warship? If the stupid reporter rechecks his notes, most likely he will re-state what he has to say. Assad has taken up residence, so that he might start another cult within islam; basically it's followers read like an encyclopedia of failed ME dictators. Time will only tell, but sources in Tula report that theirs another new islamic sect, which is know as the Russian military hardware cult also known as the House of Kalashnikov. We have long known Russia and the former USSR are the number one seller of military to the failed states of the ME region.

If official approval is granted by the Bishop's of Gog and Magog, the H of K could someday surpass the Orthodox Church in popularity. Why would the survivors of the USSR's long and bloody covert war with the Western Powers and NATO forsake their faithful battle rifles for a cheap and shiny icon sold inside the Orthodox Church's Gift Shop?

That report don’t make any sence.If anything Assad could move to the Rusky naval base and stay there. For sure if he loses the brotherhood would kick the Russians out.

Looks like he's only out there part of the time, but this will both undermine his effectiveness and make him vulnerable to being deposed by his Russian ally. Assad is correct not to trust the Iranian occutardation force sent to help bust heads -- the Iranians don't much care if Assad lives or dies, they mean to turn Syria into a larger version of Lebanon, regardless of what else happens.

For their part, the Russians probably figure that not even the jihadists will attack a Russian vessel, but Assad can't just phone it in, he'll have to spend time in the country. And of course, choppers can be shot down.

I live in New York city (very unfortunately)..If people want to see how bad it can get they should come here and see. New York city is now a Despotic state in which every aspect of the individuals life is controlled by a Despot, monitored, and regulated. EVERY aspect! Is this what people want for the rest of the country? Being told what to eat, how to dress, how the live, how to sleep, breath, how to work, where to work, what to buy, how to buy and how you should be medically treated? And that is no exaggeration.

Recently Despot Mike Bloomberg issued another decree last week stating that he has decided that hospitals can no longer issue pain medication to patients for more than 3 days because obviously Despot Bloomberg is a medical professional. So in other words if some fireman is severely burned and needs skin scrubbing and skin grafts, he can only receive pain medication for 3 days. After that he must go through absolute agony because the Despot knows best. Yes, while some fireman writhes in absolute agony and torture, it must be so because this effete little b*tch has decided it most likely while he jets to Paris in his private jet while eating caviar and crumpets “Oh Bunnny, you know 3 days of medication is puh-leeenty of time! Make it so!”
