Patriotic Group To Build Armed 'Defensible' Neighborhood Fortress
CNS News ^ | 12th January 2013 | Gregory Gwyn-Williams, Jr.

A group of like-minded patriots, bound together by pride in American exceptionalism, plan on building an armed community to protect their liberty.

The group, named Citadel, intends to purchase 2,000 to 3,000 acres for the project in western Idaho. The community will comprise of 3,500 to 7,000 families of patriotic Americans who "voluntarily choose to live together in accordance with Thomas Jefferson's ideal of Rightful Liberty."

According to the Citadel website, Rightful Liberty means that "neighbors keep their noses out of other neighbors' business, that neighbors live and let live."

Citadel explains that residents in the community will be bound by the following:

•Patriotism

•Pride in American Exceptionalism

•Our proud history of Liberty as defined by our Founding Fathers, and

•Physical preparedness to survive and prevail in the face of natural catastrophes --such as Hurricanes Sandy or Katrina -- or man-made catastrophes such as a power grid failure or economic collapse.

Residents should also agree that being "prepared for the emergencies of life and being proficient with the American icon of Liberty -- the Rifle -- are prudent measures."

Some of the benefits of the Citadel community include a safe, well-prepared, patriotic community where children will be educated in school, not indoctrinated.

The community will be protected by a perimeter wall that will be inaccessible to "tourists." Each neighborhood within the community will have lower walls, dividing the town into defensible sections.

The website has a link to applications where prospective residents can sign up. According to Citadel, more than 200 families have completed applications, even before any land has been purchased.

While Citadel may sound wonderful to many who are reading this, the community has posted a warning on their home page:

"Marxists, Socialists, Liberals and Establishment Republicans will likely find that life in our community is incompatible with their existing ideology and preferred lifestyles."

Citadel says that every patriot selected to live within the community "will voluntarily agree to follow the footsteps of our Founding Fathers by swearing to one another our lives, our fortunes and our Sacred Honor to defend one another and Liberty against all enemies, foreign and domestic."

Liberty should be spread, not fenced in.

Unfortunately, those who would attempt to protect themselves in such compounds will NOT survive when the SHTF or they “resist”.

Our government has built (with our money) an arsenal like no other in the world. It would be quite simple to take such a compound off the map.

My idea was not really to build a HOA with a fotress around it. I thought if everyone had 25-50 acres each abutting each other you would have a massive piece of land of like minded neighbors which can develope a defensive plan over the whole “subdivision”. So they would have like 150,000 acres to use. It could be the size of a small military base. This would be significantly harder to attack and easier to defend, than this “castle”.

The walled city concept died out the day the English discovered you could fire cannons at city walls and knock a hole in them.

Or was that the Turks, or the Chinese, or whoever!!!!

Today light infantry carry weapons with them that can knock down any wall you want.

BTW, the unfettered access to town walls the cannon had ENDED the day Jeanne d'Arc was told by "the voices" to aim your own cannons at the other cannons.

HIstory was never the same after that!

They should instead spend their time getting their states to secede from the union.

I’m really sorry to say this, but Jim Jones comes to mind when I read their homeowners’ association rules.

Additionally, where is the farming? Where’s the food going to be grown? You have to figure this is a SHTF community...looks to try to be self sustaining...but no farms?

Oh, that’s right, the serfs who grown the food will live outside the walls.

It’s nice to see that someone is looking for like-minded folks, but it looks a little Big Brother But Bring Your Own Guns to me.

I'm not a fan of the bunker mentality. It always assumes that when TSHTF that we all go back to 100AD. The reality is that at worst we'll go back to about 1850 with 1930 being even more likely due to the infrastructure that's in place and will hold for several years.

I drew up a quikie spot map of all the little towns across the southern half of my county. The dark lines are connections I have in other little towns. The terrain is mostly lakes, rivers and swamp with forest and farms on the higher ground.

Defensively, I think I'm better off staying right here. Urban zombies don't organize and would be at the mercy of the locals pretty much everywhere they went off the interstate. Anyone who thinks they will be able to withstand an attaack by our military is simply fooling themselves.

Doesn’t look like there is room for any streets within the community either. Also seems kind of odd that this conservative community wouldn’t show a plan to include a church.

I agree. It’ll be SHTF-steam punk style. We’ll be living in the 1800s with 2013 toys laying about.

If all assaults were by foot soldiers, this fortress might be daunting.

Given 10% of the might of our military, this place could be gone within minutes.

And when push comes to shove and they are figuring out the rationing, who gets what? An age old question with no simple answer. They could end up fighting among themselves over a loaf of bread. At that point, all the documents they signed and all the oaths they swore are worthless.
