HOUSTON -- A couple of strangers came to the rescue when a man was robbed at gunpoint. Now, the victim wants to say thank you to the Good Samaritans.

Police believe the criminal who was canvassing a neighborhood in the 2500 block of Wichita near Hermann Park had no idea what he was in for when he picked his target.

The victim in this case had just walked back to his car from a bar around the corner.

“I don’t believe in guns,” said Dorsey. “I don’t own a gun. I’m totally at the mercy of my saviors. They obviously sent two angels to help me. These people protected me when I couldn’t protect myself.”

Saw this on Drudge and didn't see it posted. Based on the quote from the story, people can be amazingly stupid.

“I don’t believe in guns,”

That struck me when I read this on Drudge also. Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the tooth fairy, UFOs and Bigfoot. Who knows. But guns? Yup they exist. I guarantee it.

Just a random thought..

How is it ok for the two good guys to open fire on the suspect?

I am glad it worked out ok but anyone can say anything to anyone.

He (the Vic) was a soft target. Drunk and unarmed. Easy pickings.

Drunk and unarmed.

Drunk and armed isn't a huge improvement.

After the robber had been shot, police say he jumped over a fence and was attacked by a German Shepherd. That attack prevented him from getting away.

Snicker...

They obviously sent two angels who DO believe in guns.

The rules in Texas say that you can come to the defense of another person if that other person is in mortal danger, as in danger of losing their life.

Looks like this was the case here.

Not only a random thought but a bit strange at that! Just what are you saying here - that robbers should not have to face anyone who might protect themselves? All in all, a really strange response for this thread. Even Jesus used a whip which was fairly potent at the time...today requires a bit more...

the robber was running.. Dude might have been giving chase. Again how does ANYONE know the guy chasing the robber is telling the truth?

Again I am glad they caught the bad guy, but, what if the guy chasing the other was really the bad guy and they shot the wrong person?

Oh no, they should!

however, if you pull up on a guy running down the road.. Are you going to just take his word that the guy he chasing is what he says he is?

I sure as hell would not shoot him based on someones word.

Probably why Police give up the chase after losing sight of their suspect - yeah? Who knows, just another innocent running guy trying to lose some excess weight.

I would think that in this instance they not only recognized him, clothes, etc., that they had no doubt about who he was. I do think you are trying to make a point but not sure if you realize that it may be a bit silly.

If they saw it happen then fine. Shoot his ass dead.

But if they saw it happen why stop and ask the victim?

I’d guess that they wanted to be sure of their actions...would have probably done the same.

Who says they shot first or, if they did, that they didn’t fire defensively in fear of their lives when the robber first displayed his weapon?

Given that it is Colorado, they probably left to avoid “unnecessary entanglement with Imperial forces.”

Anyway, bad night for the robber; shot (probably multiple times), bitten by a German Shepard (again, probably multiple times), and caught with the stolen property on him. 0 for 3. Needs a new line of work after his extended recovery in jail/prison.
