WSJ ^ | Saturday Jaunary 12, 2013

Marco Rubio, Florida's GOP senator, unveils his reform ideas to 'modernize' the system and put illegal immigrants on a path to citizenship.

Marco Rubio—41-year-old son of working-class Cuban exiles—has lived the upwardly mobile immigrant experience. In his fast rise, the Florida Republican has also experienced the politics of immigration

[....]

"Here's how I envision it," he says. "They would have to come forward. They would have to undergo a background check." Anyone who committed a serious crime would be deported. "They would be fingerprinted," he continues. "They would have to pay a fine, pay back taxes, maybe even do community service. They would have to prove they've been here for an extended period of time. They understand some English and are assimilated. Then most of them would get legal status and be allowed to stay in this country."

Windy has a different style of Chiefdom.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, amigo. Full stop. I'm just a lowly First Adherent attached to the Abbey of Trollhenge. LOL

I *knew* that one would eventually get the ZOT. A few days ago, (s)he claimed we have no choice but to support pro-abortion candidates in some areas of the country. Then (s)he tried to apply the Reagan 80/20 rule to those same candidates except the ratio was 50/50.

What exactly do Cuban exiles, who fled Cuba because America’s leaders didn’t have the guts to stomp on Castro, have to do with border jumping Mexicans? So what if they have the same language. I wouldn’t give a free pass to some border jumper from England just because he has good enunciation of the Queen’s English.

If this is your stand, you can do so without my vote, if and when you choose to run for an office for which my vote would count.”””

AMEN I cannot vote for Rubio.

I held my nose & voted for McCain- when I was actually voting for Palin.

Then I sucked it up again and supported Romney.

No more—I want an AMERICAN CITIZEN who is qualified as a Natural Born Citizen and who is truly conservative.

I don’t want a candidate who wants to buy votes from one constituency only.

It’s been a long time coming, and I hope that it wasn’t just a suspension.
