Obama to Deliver State of the Union on Lincoln's Birthday
Thw Weekly Standard ^ | 1/11/13 | Daniel Halper

Posted on 01/11/2013 9:54:15 PM PST by originalbuckeye

President Barack Obama will deliver this year's State of the Union Address on February 12, which is the same day as Abraham Lincoln's birthday.

"Our nation continues to face immense challenges, and the American people expect us to work together in the new year to find meaningful solutions," House speaker John Boehner writes in a letter to Obama, inviting him to deliver the address. "This will require a willingness to seek common ground as well as presidential leadership. For that reason, the Congress and the Nation would welcome an opportunity to hear your plan and specific solutions for addressing America’s great challenges. Therefore, it is my privilege to invite you to speak before a Joint Session of Congress on February 12, 2013 in the House Chamber of the U.S. Capitol Building."

It's been reported that Obama has accepted Boehner's invitation to speak on Lincoln's birthday

Just remember to tell the idiots, “ you do know Lincoln was a Republican, right?”
It blows their mind when I point that out to the idiot socialists at work, they have no clue. Some have even denied it.

Guess he'll make multiple references to the Gettysburg Address and how he enjoyed reading it many times as he was growing up in Ken***, I mean Hawaii.

Obama is trying so hard to go down in history as a modern day Lincoln.
I wonder if he knows about this Lincoln quote:

“I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in anyway the social and political equality of the white and black races - that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality. And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race. I say upon this occasion I do not perceive that because the white man is to have the superior position the negro should be denied everything.”

-Fourth Debate with Stephen A. Douglas at Charleston, Illinois, September 18, 1858 (The Collected Works of Abraham Lincoln edited by Roy P. Basler, Volume III, pp. 145-146.)

boner is talking about willingness to find common ground and presidential leadership to address our challenges.

HAH.
There is no common ground between baraq and the US citizen. Nothing.
Presidentail leadership? He is leader of his supporters, not of this country.

The rewriting of history is an essential part of a communist takeover.

Heard someone today talking about the Republicans in Tammany Hall.

< mockery>

He'll probably be even more open as to his intentions by using Abraham Lincoln to support his feeeeeeeeeeeelings about Constitutional guarantees.

About habeas corpus:

Defending his position on habeas corpus Lincoln asked concerning a writ of habeas corpus: should everything fail because that one law "made in such extreme tenderness of the citizens' liberty that practically it relieves more of the guilty than of the innocent [cannot] to a very limited extent be violated?" You want "the government itself go to pieces?"

"'Such extreme tenderness of citizens' liberty', harms the Nation," said President Obama. "We yield way too much to accommodate the masses and ignore the government. I have not given them such human rights, former president Clinton is correct when he said that there is too much freedom for them."

Obama and his followers really believe he’s the 2nd coming of Lincoln, Roosevelt and Christ.

His arrogance is boundless- a good example of why you should not believe your press. But he should be warned- pride goeth before a fall

I am more afraid of a ‘Kristallnacht’against all those who disagree with the Won.

It is a trade market of socialist & leftist to know as little as possible about history, economics, or reason. Given that we are all given that ideology in the Government schools and media propaganda, what separates us from them is that we know this ideology is a failed one that has led to more death, misery and destruction than any other in the history of mankind.

In short this conflict among our people is between those that know better and those that don’t.

Life does have its little ironies.

We all seem to expect Obama to exploit the occasion to make a remark in support of his favorite subject slavery to the state.

I will not deny that Obama has made us less free; however, much of our enslavement came long before he appeared on the scene.
Income-tax withholdings are, by far, the most vile and immoral tool of our enslavement: for we cannot even refuse to pay our masters, they that take our due pay before it even enters our hand. It was the 16th Amendment that re-instituted slavery.

C’mon folks this should all be obvious to everyone. President Obama is going to use one of Lincoln’s bibles for his swearing in a little more than a week from today and then deliver his state of the union on Abe’s birthday. The symbolism is obvious but this is the president’s and the Democratic Party’s “in your face” swipe at us and they will love every minute of rubbing our noses in it. The GOP establishment wusses still think we can find common ground with these people but they want to mock and ultimately destroy us and this is a subtle reminder of that.
