And yet Denver didn't want him. Even on a winning streak the Bronco's organization was plainly lukewarm about him.

And if any of the people opining about how Tebow is getting screwed had actually bothered to watch any of his games with Denver they would have seen Tebow's passes hitting the ground well before they reached WRs or sailing way over their heads.

How many other QBs currently in the league have a career completion percentage of LESS than 50%?!?!

Compare the amount of pass attempts Tebow had while a starter versus how many attempts QBs on other teams made. It is undeniable Denver deliberately limited how many times they wanted Tebow to throw.

Finally, the Pittsburgh playoff victory happened because Pittsburgh so thoroughly disrespected his abilities & Tebow burned them with the long TD pass in OT, taking advantage of the lack of coverage.

Byron Leftwich - least athletic and slowest black NFL player ever.

Then you weren’t paying attention. Look up any of the old press coverage on....

Bernie Kosar's mechanics were talked about from the day he entered the league until the day he left.

But Bernie adjusted much of his game to fit the NFL & knew how to read a defense as well as anyone playing.

Tebow really hasn’t achieved that much. His career completion percentage is 47.9%, his career QB rating is 75.3, he’s got 17 TDs, 9 INTs, and 7 fumbles. He won a few games when playing on a team with a VERY good defense, but a number of those games he won with fewer than 10 completions.

And if you want to see his mechanics look him up on youtube. The tape is there and available, and his mechanical flaws are pretty obvious.

Tebow just finished his 3rd season, he HAS been given opportunity to succeed or fail.

Sorry but Tim’s being held to the same standards as everybody else. Probably the worst thing that happened to him was Denver trading up to get him in the 1st round. Every mock draft in the country had him as a 3rd round pick. Less is expected of 3rd rounders than 1st. In all truth he’s had a pretty typical 3rd rounder career. If it wasn’t for the cult that surrounds him and insists all bad things that happen to him are because of his faith he’d be just another anonymous 3rd rounder.

No, it is a game of mobility. One of the best ever here was Doug Flutie. He was too short to see over the line in the NFL. There are MUCH wider passing lanes up here.

Flutie was never too short to play in the NFL. He was too short for GMs to believe in him, but every time he got a chance to play in the NFL he did well. For Tebow wide passing lanes don’t help when you regularly miss receivers by 5 yards. The one thing that might help him is the game up there is a lot slower than the NFL. But it’s still much more passing oriented than the NFL because of the 3 downs and I just don’t see anybody wanting him.

I’d say that they’re the ones supporting MY position.

I'm sorry xzins, but you sound silly. You obviously have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Do you watch the NFL or are you only commenting on this because Tebow is an outspoken Christian and you want to defend him?

It is very possible that Tebow will be out of the NFL next year. Clearly all 32 franchises, their scouts, GM's, coaches, etc, do NOT agree with your assessment. They do not want him. They are not supporting your position.

Tebow was drafted with the hopes he could be coached/taught the proper fundamentals. He couldn't. Without the proper fundamentals Tebow will never be a good NFL quarterback. It just won't happen. Denver figured this out, then the Jets discovered the same, now all the teams in the league understand this about Tim Tebow. He is just not a good NFL QB.

I actually think he’ll get one more shot, because somebody will be desperate enough to pick him up off waivers. Nobody will trade for him though. And that shot might not get past the pre-season. But I do think there’s enough teams with nothing but question marks at the QB position that when the Jets dump him to the waiver wire somebody will give him a shot.

All he did was win. He led Denver to a playoff appearance nobody thought they should get.

The QB in Seattle is 5’11”. He can’t see over the line to throw passes. However, he has giant hands and one of the strongest arms in the league, and can run. Their coaches designed an office that could take advantages of his strengths and turn his weaknesses into at least neutrals.

Not sure Rex Ryan has the staff for those kinds of nuances. Frankly, hiring Manning worked out for Denver because they got a coach in the bargain.

Put Tebow in the right offense and I think he’d do well.

Winning a division with an 8-8 record isn’t exactly being “led to the playoffs”. Especially when multiple of those wins involved less than 10 completed passes. That DEFENSE led them to the playoffs, Tim managed to not screw it up.

Russell Wilson is an accurate passer, and he’s smart, with solid fundamentals. Compare the stats, Wilson has already thrown 10 more TDs than Tebow, his completion percentage is almost 20 points higher, and his QB rating is 25 higher.

In theory the Jets put together the “perfect” situation for Tebow. They went out and got the “wildcat coach” for offensive co-ordinator and everything. They tried to build an offense around him, but it didn’t work. I don’t think there is a right offense for him. The guys succeeding with the read option this year are still solid in the pocket, they just have an added dimension of being good runners, and good runners that still look down the field to pass until they cross the line of scrimmage. But all of them could win games from the pocket. Tebow can’t, he doesn’t have the defensive reads or consistency of passing. He does well against weak defenses, but every time he’s run into a good defense he got crushed. Defenses that keep lane discipline can beat him.

You're right - I don't pay much attention to what goes on in the NFL anymore.

Which basically proves my point - I don't hear anything about those other names you mention, yet read about Tebow and his "mechanics" all of the time.

Those who say all he did was win because of the fluke Pittsburgh game ignore how easily & thoroughly dismantled Tebow was in the following playoff game against New England.

To refresh people's memories regarding the NE loss:

TEBOW
9 for 26, 136 yards, 0 TD

That was all Denver needed to see.

What bothers be about Tebow Fanatics (not Tebow himself) is that they act like he's the first Christian to play in the NFL.

Tim Tebow reminds of former MSU QB Drew Stanton, except more outspoken on religious issues.

Run-first QB's rarely make it. Tebow I think could be a good FB or TE because he is a very good athlete. He's not a top NFL QB, like many other high level college QB's, like Stanton, Andre Ware, Joey Harrington, David Carr, Tim Couch, and Akili Smith.

I don’t know if you’re intentionally missing the point, or if you just can’t see it.

They scouted, drafted and used Tebow. When used he won games, inspired teammates, and went to the playoffs where he WON again.

He has SHOWN that he can be effective in the NFL.

All of the above means that every other comment is irrelevant until Tebow is given another chance. It also can be used as evidence that something ELSE is preventing his being used, for example, his religion.

From Bill Cosby and the OrlandoSentinel about Tim Tebow:

““I like the way that team plays football and all of these people who don’t understand it tell ‘em to c’mon and beat him. Because it’s football ‘boom, boom.’ And tell Tim [Tebow], I said don’t worry about what all of these people are saying, just show him old films of Joe Kapp, Minnesota Vikings. Football played.”

Maybe old Cosby has a point about comparing Joe Kapp and Tim Tebow’s unorthodox styles.

Check this out from Sports Illustrated. Tebow would be perfect for the CFL. By the way, I'm 68 and have played and watched football for 60 years up here in Canada and down there.

They scouted, drafted and used Tebow.

Yes, in the hopes he could be coached into learning the fundamentals necessary to succeed as a franchise QB. He couldn't or wouldn't learn those things. Anyone can look at the game film and see Tebow's mechanics are terrible - and never improved sufficiently to make him a starter.

When used he won games, inspired teammates, and went to the playoffs where he WON again.

He was winning ugly, and there was no future in it. How are you not getting that? Sometimes bad players win some games. There are lots of washed out, mediocre players that hung around in the NFL long enough to have a winning streak or two - that doesn't mean they were good, it means the team was winning in spite of them (of course no one would say that at the time).

Every single NFL franchise wants, and will do almost anything, to win - including break rules, sign retreads, pay insane guaranteed money, etc. It is possible, even perhaps likely, that NO team will sign Tebow next season. And if he signs somewhere, he will probably not be a starting QB in the future. Every single argument you make is entirely wiped out by these facts. You are not a better scout, coach or GM than what even bad NFL teams have.

Tebow is a winning personality, he works hard, he has a great attitude, but he isn't a good NFL QB. If he'd accept that, he might be able to still play football in some other capacity. A lot of teams would probably love to have a 3rd string QB that did more than stand around on the sidelines on clipboard duty. Tebow could possibly be a backup QB that doubled as a TE or something in specific packages. As a backup though, he couldn't be in the spotlight. He'd have to really make an effort to keep from attracting media attention.

Actually it shows your point is wrong. Because you’re not paying attention to NFL talk, you’re only paying attention to talk about Tebow. So subsequently EVERYTHING you hear about Tebow you don’t hear about anybody else because you’re not paying attention to talk about anybody else. Out here where people actually pay attention to talk about QBs not named Tebow probably 1/3 of that talk is about their mechanics.

That article is a year and a half old and was written right before his REALLY bad stretch to end the season. And the words Canada and CFL don’t appear in it at all, so it actually doesn’t say what you said.

He always reminds me of Kordell Stewart, but that’s because I suffered through his almost all his career.

The big life lesson Tebow is missing is never listen to the people that love you. Their view is skewed. Listen to people who have a non-emotional stake in your success, they’re the ones that’ll give you the straight scoop, because they need you to succeed without the baggage of liking or not liking you. And the people with non-emotional stakes in his success keep getting rid of him.
