Most people in Ireland want lawmakers to give women wider access to abortion, a poll revealed Thursday as senior clerics testified before a parliamentary committee investigating Ireland’s ban on the practice.

Prime Minister Enda Kenny’s government has pledged to legalize abortion for women whose lives are deemed in danger from a pregnancy, including those who threaten to commit suicide if denied an abortion.

Opponents of abortion argue that the suicide-threat rule would be open to deceit and permit increasingly broad access to abortion in this predominantly Catholic country. …

Killing, especially children, is the “next big thing” these days.

Killing, especially children, is the “next big thing” these days.

This is an accelerating trend, particularly in the West, to become more and more libertine. You can see how it is dividing conservatives here in the US. Social conservatism is really under siege in America and throughout Europe.

It upsets me to no end that the children of Erin, my progenitors, the source of the lyrical Gaelic, wish to kill babies.

God always promised He won’t interfere with human choice. But He will be there to judge — “thou shalt not kill” means something to Him.

This is just sad. Ireland has been one of the last holdouts against abortion. Looks like the last domino is about to fall. God help us.

And we fail to recognise our own."

For this, anonymous monks labored in scriptoria to preserve the knowledge of Greece and Rome. For this, brave men and women bled and died through seven centuries of tyranny. An ignominious decline for a onetime bulwark of Catholicism.

Most of Ireland wants to commit suicide.

The West promotes abortion as a woman’s right, the East conducts forced abortions under the one child policy, and the Mohammedans multiply like rats.

The poll published Thursday found that 35 percent supported the government plan to propose a law to legalize abortions for life-threatening cases including suicidal women. Some 29 percent said they wanted the government to go farther and legalize abortion on demand, the law in neighboring Britain since 1967.

Where do they get "most of Ireland" from those percentages?

29 + 35 = 64. 64% is a pretty strong preponderance, and there’s no precise statistical definition of “most.”

People who have sex outside marriage need abortion. That’s the simple truth.

Thanks. It's an ugly truth but it needs to be stated plainly.

“It upsets me to no end that the children of Erin, my progenitors, the source of the lyrical Gaelic, wish to kill babies.”

I doubt it is even true. They told us most Americans wanted it, too, until they did want it. Even Americans that support abortion don’t even lie about what it is; they know it is murder, but feel the mother’s right to murder has priority over the child’s right to life. It isn’t even couched in euphemisms anymore. As long as there are black people in the US, whites will insist that blacks have the right to kill their children.

No, of course not. Sex outside marriage produces “crisis,” “unexpected” pregnancies. Abortion, legal or not, has always been one of the methods for dealing with the situation. When abortion is legal and socially acceptable, there will be more pregnancies, because people base their decisions on having that “solution” for pregnancy.

Another outcome of sex outside marriage is children outside marriage. Depending on the society, the result can be children begging in the street, or children reared with iPods, enough food to be obese, billion-dollar schools ... and moral and physical squalor. (See: What’s this we have now?)

And all this is “not a bug, but a feature” - the logical and reasonably expected outcomes of a society that rejects sexual morality.

I didn't mean that. I meant adding the response percentages from two separate poll questions. With a few more questions you could get 200%, 300% or maybe even 500% of the population.

But thanks for the morality lesson anyway.

The two “yes to legal abortion” answers added up to more than half. In some contexts, we’d use “most” in discussing this outcome.

For example, if there are ten pieces of cake, and Tom has four, while James has two, and Elen, Pat, Vlad, and Frank each have one, they would all tell me, “Tom ate the most!” even though the other five, all together, had more than Tom.

And you’re welcome. I have lots of other moral philosophy available, if you’re having trouble sleeping or something.

They are two separate questions answered by the same group of people.

Well, yeah, in a speshul ed class I suppose. LOL
