All the rights and privileges of a noble were encapsulated in that brief expression. Without that right you had no other rights except as the local lord might allow you.
The second amendment expands on Article I, Section 9, Clause 8 which prohibits the federales from granting titles of nobility. That would, of course, be silly if absolutely everybody is ennobled in the Second Amendment ~ which just goes to prove much of the Bill of Rights was written after the main body of the Constitution was put to bed.
People who want to deprive others of their Second Amendment rights seek to turn them into serfs wholly dependent on their liege lords ~ this time Democrat politicians.
BTW, one of the more important rights imparted in the Second is the right of an individual to go to federal court and sue another individual in what is otherwise a private dispute. When you sue you are asking the government to bring to bear all the aircraft carriers, ICBMs and nuclear warheads in the federal arsenal ~ as they may be required, and that's not a small thing. At the time of the French Revolution Brittany had several thousand courts to which a noble could drag a non-noble, but not a single court to which a peasant could force a nobleman to attend for judgment.
The Founders knew these things ~ that's what they wrote about in the Constitution. That Joe Biden and Goober Obama don't know is not at all surprising.
“When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.”-Thomas Jefferson
