Will it stop jihadis from flying into buildings? Bombing Synagogues? TRYING to bomb Broadway theaters?
I thought not.

"Its about ending the unnecessary risk of high-capacity assault rifles."
What about the risk of demented feral youths with illegal guns? What are you going to do about that?
The risk of demented BATFE hitting the wrong house?
The demented BATFE enticing regular peeps to do something against the idiotic laws of 1934 and 1968?
How about a hearing protection gun law?

If assault weapons are banned only criminals and government thugs will have assault weapons.

Looks like he's pretty far along this old trick.
First we'll go for their magazines,
few will speak out because they can keep the small ones.
Then we'll go for the "assault weapons",
few will speak out because we'll let them keep other long guns.
Then we'll go for all long guns,
few will speak out because we'll let them keep the handguns.
Then we'll go for the handguns,
Got 'em!. (But we've kept ours.)
They definitely won't make it past the third one.

***It has been enough. We need a gun policy in this state that is reasonable, that is balanced, that is measured.***
But, would it have stopped 19 moslem arabs with boxcuttersfrom killing 3000 people on 9-11-201?
If these new laws would not have stopped that, then the Governor is just pi$$ing into the wind.

[Mr. Cuomo predicted the rest of the country will follow New Yorks lead and adopt stiffer gun laws.]
Four years to go until 2016 and Cuomo is already launching his presidential campaign. “The rest of the country” is worried about whether they'll still have a job a week from now.

All over the great state of New York, one suspects that law abiding, tax paying, (sometimes business owning and employee employing) gun owners are planning to sell their homes (and businesses) and move to Second Amendment-friendly states.
One suspects that the financial loss to New York state from out-migrating legal firearm owners will be swift and staggering in magnitude.
Oh, and violent criminals? Guess where they are headed.

IMO this will be a test for the Communists/Progressives to test the waters of the electorate in the US. If it flies there they will likely try it soon in over half of the States. I wonder if New Yorkers will roll over and take it willingly without a fight?

Right up there with tough drug laws, child abuse, automobile fatalities, and murder.
Good thing there’s none of these anymore.

This is such a load of crap. NY already bans high cap mags. NY teachers will NEVER go for any type of "Bar" exam. You will NEVER regulate private sales of guns, garage sales anyone ? And just what does increased penalties do to crazy people with a death wish ?
Just hyperbole and drivel to pander to his lapdogs.
