The New York Times´s Manny Fernandez greeted the opening of the biannual Texas legislative session in Austin in Wednesday´s paper: "Texas Budget Surplus Proves as Contentious As a Previous Shortfall." After explaining how Texas has become flush with cash over the last two years, going from a budget deficit to surplus, Fernandez couldn´t help working in a cut against the "far-right" Tea Party. Shortly after noon inside the Capitol’s Senate chamber, Gov. Rick Perry told senators that the comptroller’s revenue estimate released the day before was good news, but cautioned them to retain the state’s fiscally conservative model.

Texas is none of the NY Times business. They need to get the Sequoia out of their own “eye.”

Mr. Perry has called on lawmakers to support his so-called Texas Budget Compact, a Tea Party-style pledge to oppose new taxes and to replace the current spending limit for the state budget with an even stricter formula.

Well no wonder little Manny is having a hissy. No new taxes? An actual budget?

SPENDING LIMITS?

All of which results in a SURPLUS????

How DARE those damn Texans be successful!

The nerve of them!

Far Right Agenda of the Texas TEA Party?

I would take that agenda any day of the week over the left wing agenda of the New York Times and little Manny Fernandez.

They get it. The deception is intentional.

Anyone who stops and thinks, will understand that limited government is not a “right wing” ideal of any kind.

Rick Perry SHOULD have proclaimed that since there is a surplus, then obviously there is room for TAX CUTS. “And buy the way legislators, after you replenish the ‘rainy day fund’ send the rest of the surplus BACK to the taxpayers.”

No, because at this point it would probably be a really good idea to make sure the RDF has lots of money. We may be needing it and then some soon, what with how the Feds are acting.

Actually, it is probably a good idea to listen to what the NY Times has to say and then do the opposite.

These fools just don’t get it in North Dakota either.

The state has a huge surplus that they are gonna use to build roads and other things.

Taxes from businesses that are thriving. Not overtaxation by obama

Guess we won't tell Furdy that what he calls a far-right, WE call *reg'lar thinkin'*!

--------

LOL! I've seen his type before...think they're just all that and full of sanctimonious bluster.

But put them in a bathroom with a Texas wood-roach, and they SCREAM LIKE LITTLE GIRLS!

ROFLMAO!

[not that I've ever done anything like that. cough]

Oh those evil tea party folk have done it now; gone and given texas a budget surplus. And if we aren’t careful they might do it again!
