The company has had "ongoing conversations with the administration, Congress, (New York) Mayor (Michael) Bloomberg's office, sportsmen groups, suppliers and others to listen and share our thoughts and experiences," company spokesman David Tovar said in a statement to CNN.
"Knowing our senior leaders could not be in Washington this week, we spoke in advance with the vice president's office to share our perspective," he said. "We underestimated the expectation to attend the meeting on Thursday in person, so we are sending an appropriate representative to participate."
That's not how the lamestream media's going to portray it.....
8 PM prayer in what Time Zone?
BTW our local Walmart joyfully sells A LOT of firearms and ammo.....so far
At this point, Walmart is damned if they do and damned if they don’t. They are demonized 24/7 by the idiot left....and they are criticized by the right for anything they do that doesn’t spit in the idiot left’s face.
As a business, struggling to survive in the “New Amerika”.....there comes a time when you finally say screw it. Go with the flow. I think that’s what Walmart has come to. I suspect that more and more companies will succumb to the pressures of the new Thug King and his hit-men.
That's not how the lamestream media's going to portray it.....
Read carefully!
That's exactly how the media, CNN and the poster of the article are portraying it.
Doesn't anybody read and comprehend the damn articles? What exactly is it that Walmart is guilty of doing besides selling cheap Chinese crap that US consumers can't refrain from buying?
That's not how the lamestream media's going to portray it....."
Not sure you and I are on the same page. My response "that's not how the lamestream media's going to portray it" was meant to imply that the lamestream media will portray WalMart's attendance as agreeing with the Obama Administration.
What does the above mean to you? Read it carefully. Notice that the word not isn't inserted between the words does and mean.
Thanks...
From the comments, it appears you weren't alone. I had to reread it myself.
Our apathy is showing. If it includes more than a little keyboard pounding, we’re out. Those mostly who realize we’re going to regret waiting rather than acting and that daylight is burning, that time is life, are somewhat passed fighting shape, and those young enough to push back can’t tell time is burning or that anything is even missing. Like liberty. We shall rue the day.....if you get my drift.
Sam Walton's kids are four of the richest people in the world, every one a Democrat/fascist.
Yup, you are correct.

Why do the facsists allow guns and ammo to be sold in Walmarts?
Don't know. Perhaps because "Daddy did"? Heirs to corporate giants are rarely effective decision makers and are usually loath to embroil themselves in operational details. I suspect the Waltons are no exception.
Thanks for the ping!
Daddy was indeed a capitalist. My guess is that the offspring are as well.
D'oh!

I thought more people from the Right of center show there than the Left, but then again I live in NYC and WE DONT HAVE WALMART HERE...
“Article title is more than a little misleading, don’t you agree?”
CNN? Mislead? HOw can you say such a thing?

Your guess? You guessed wrong.
Samuel Rawlings Walton gave $300,000 to the Obama Campaign. WalMart supported the employer mandate in ObamaCare. They get most of their land via eminent domain takings. They have lobbied for a higher minimum wage to harm their competitors. They have also benefited from Dodd-Frank because the bill fixes the price they have to pay banks for debit cards.
That's fascism, any way you slice it.
How is what you posted anti-capitalist? Do you believe it will adversely affect the Walton's income or net worth? Why does Walmart sell guns and ammunition?
Focusing corporate energy to use government to destroy competition instead of producing a more productive and thereby profitable operation is fascism, not capitalism. It is anti-American.
Please tell me how those actions do not exhibit fascism.
Do you believe it will adversely affect the Walton's income or net worth?
Not in the short term. Definitely in the long term, because they are harming the wealth producing capability of their customer base.
Why does Walmart sell guns and ammunition?
I am not into divination, but my guess is corporate momentum. Sam Walton sold goods to make money, but he also believed in free enterprise America. His children are clearly another matter, else they wouldn't be joining forces with Obama.
Capitalism is about destroying the competition. Profiting is very American.
Please tell me how those actions do not exhibit fascism.
Fascism....Philosophy of government that stresses the primacy and glory of the state, unquestioning obedience to its leader, subordination of the individual will to the state's authority, and harsh suppression of dissent. Martial virtues are celebrated, while liberal and democratic values are disparaged.
they are harming the wealth producing capability of their customer base.
Isn't that what all the people who buy imports and support foreign manufacturers are doing?
I am not into divination, but my guess is corporate momentum
What the hell is that? Businesses sell guns and ammo to attract customers and to make a profit. If you find a store or company that is selling guns and ammo at a loss, by all means, please inform us. There are millions of us who would love to take advantage of it.
Ours does too sister. 8PM Central time my friend... every evening for the rest of my life.

Yep...
And imho, Habayit Yehudi could get more votes and more olim pushing a 2A type law in israel
“I personally am praying every evening at 8PM and I am praying for salvation for our Republic...”
In our evening devotions, we pray for the personal salvation of Obama and his minions. But... can an anti-Christ even experience salvation?

They [cough] may not be able to actually locate me from the personal information I gave them, but I did send a message to “Corporate Headquarters,” and I hope that every FReeper who reads this thread does the same.
>>Hey, Ill believe an *executive order* when I see *that*.<<
Well, If you can believe Joe Biden. It came straight from the horses mouth yesterday.
hope you had a good new year FRiend.
The elitist are nothing but bullies who use every dirty tactic they can by the Govt to force their agenda onto us.
Obama should nevr have been given a second term as it is and as for those who voted for him and live in their liberal states then they can lose their guns seeing as they voted for this crap.
Hoep you and the family are doing well and have a good new year , even if we have a socialist and his pals backing him and lying to us through the corrupt media
the misses is getting a handgun this weekend and I’;m buying a load of ammo to stock up on for my SIG , plus I might get a rigle too.
Here’s what I told Walmart:
“I have heard that Walmart is going to send a representative to Vice President Biden’s gun control summit. I don’t believe that it is in the best interest of either the country or your company to attend that summit. Gun control is a political issue, not a commercial one, and you should stay away - FAR AWAY.
I am writing you with a warning: Walmart had better not support ANY of the President’s agenda regarding gun control, and had better continue selling firearms and related products through its stores, or I and my family - who spend upwards of $150/week at Walmart and Sam’s Club - will no longer be customers. Further more, I will contact every person I know who shops at your stores and urge them to take the same action, and I will further attempt to help in the organization of a boycott of your stores.
On the other hand, if you stay away from any support - direct or indirect - of the President’s gun control policies, then I will continue to shop there. The decision is in your hands, but remember what happened to K Mart after it hired anti-gun Rosie O’Donnell.”
Bump!
I’m in..
From The Free Dictionary definition of "capitalism":
Profiting is very American.
One can profit by theft, extortion, or fraud. Is that "American" too?
You definition of a capitalist system is by its ends, not its mechanics. Your definition of fascism is the same. I could have used the more precise term "mercantilism" but I doubted you would do any different because I know you to be a dissembler. Here is the definition of "fascism" from the same source:
That you address only part of the question and twist to suit by set overlap while ignoring the manipulation of government in the marketplace as opposed to straight up free market competition shows you have no intent to engage forthrightly, preferring to throw around a sufficient amount of deliberately ambiguous debris that someone just goes away thus avoiding the real objections to your thesis. I suspect you call that "winning." In reality it is misdirection, spin, and selective misrepresentation.
We had a FReeper employing tactics and positions like yours on the California threads as a prime supporter of Arnold Schwarzenegger: 68grunt, now forcibly departed. As you saw in California, that type of "capitalism" didn't turn out so well for aggregate wealth generation, but it surely did benefit the big players in the real estate and construction markets. Arnold borrowed buckets of money expanding State debt by 50% to fund them and regulated the hell out of their competition to please his corporate patrons. Yet that is more the Democrat way than it represents free market competition. Apparently it's your way too.
Isn't that [harming the wealth producing capability of their customer base] what all the people who buy imports and support foreign manufacturers are doing?
No, but then, considering that you support preferential treatment of single entities by government then you should have no objection to the necessary consequences.
Businesses sell guns and ammo to attract customers and to make a profit.
If what you are saying was true, WalMart would not in any way compromise, much less collude with the Obama Administration on instituting gun control measures. Yet here we are, despite your flatulent plaudits for a system that is virtually identical with the royal mercantilism against which our founders rebelled. Your grossly oversimplified and rosy projection negates the presence of social and political advocacy among the directors of every large company and supposedly charitable foundation in America. That you pretend such intrigue does not exist is a fallacy refuted by at least 80 years of evidence. You argue that there is no harm in preferential treatment as if that was "capitalism" out of one side of your mouth and pretend that the same is free enterprise out of the other. Your subsequent argument is the same and both are equally untrue.
Why should any enterprise have to go to the government for "special favors"?
Theft, fraud and extortion aren't legitimate businesses, are they?
I'm not allied with or aligned with Democrats or Republicans. Do you take pride in making baseless accusations and being wrong?
Publicly held corporations answer to their stockholders. They do what is necessary to increase profits and decrease competition. They lobby politicians to gain advantages.
I live in the real world. I've had to deal with government rules, regulations and tax burdens.
Take your ignorant and clueless accusations and shove them where the sun doesn't shine.
Good find, thanks.
