When you consider the number of innocent lives taken by tyranical governments, that statement cuts in both directions...

I agree. Unfortunately; too many knee-jerk emotional thinkers lap this up. By this logic; the speed limit everywhere should be no more than 20 mph. This would drastically reduce auto-accident deaths. It may be completely inefficient, unrealistic, and crippling to the economy, but it would save at least one life so it would be "worth it".
