Not all us Zonies cast our our for his last election to the senate. I sure as hell didn’t.
Voted for ‘him’ with Palin. Said never again and followed through.
An ideological cross-section? What, from communist to fascist?
TSome of the ones who have served a long time have to pretend to be persuaded...
Barack Obama 4/25/05: The President hasnt gotten his way. And that is now prompting a change in the Senate rules that really I think would change the character of the Senate forever what I worry about would be that you essentially still have two chambers the House and the Senate but you have simply majoritarian absolute power on either side, and thats just not what the founders intended.”
Hillary Clinton 5/23/2005: So this president has come to the majority here in the Senate and basically said change the rules. Do it the way I want it done. And I guess there just werent very many voices on the other side of the isle that acted the way previous generations of senators have acted and said Mr. President we are with you, we support you, but thats a bridge too far we cant go there. You have to restrain yourself Mr. President.
Charles Schumer 5/18/2005: We are on the precipice of a crisis, a constitutional crisis. The checks and balances which have been at the core of this Republic are about to be evaporated by the nuclear option. The checks and balances which say that if you get 51% of the vote you dont get your way 100% of the time. It is amazing its almost a temper tantrum.
Harry Reid 5/18/2005: Mr. President the right to extended debate is never more important than the one party who controls congress and the white house. In these cases the filibuster serves as a check on power and preserves our limited government.
Dianne Feinstein 5/18/2005: The nuclear option if successful will turn the Senate into a body that could have its rules broken at any time by a majority of senators unhappy with any position taken by the minority. It begins with judicial nominations. Next will be executive appointments and then legislation.
Joe Biden 5/23/2005: This nuclear option is ultimately an example of the arrogance of power. It is a fundamental power grab.
Harry Reid 5/18/2005: But no we are not going to follow the Senate rules. No, because of the arrogance of power of this Republican administration.
Chris Dodd 5/18/2005: Ive never passed a single bill worth talking about that didnt have a lead co sponsor that was a Republican. And I dont know of a single piece of legislation thats ever been adopted here that didnt have a Republican and Democrat in the lead. Thats because we need to sit down and work with each other. The rules of this institution have required that. Thats why we exist. Why have a bicameral legislative body? Why have two chambers? What were the framers thinking about 218 years ago? They understood Mr. President that there is a tyranny of the majority.
Dianne Feinstein 5/18/2005: If the Republican leadership insists on forcing the nuclear option the senate becomes ipso facto the House of Representatives where the majority rules supreme and the party of power can dominate and control the agenda with absolute power.
Hillary Clinton 5/23/2005: Youve got majority rule and then you have the senate over here where people can slow things down where they can debate where they have something called the filibuster. You know it seems like its a little less than efficient — well thats right it is. And deliberately designed to be so.
Joe Biden 5/23/05: I say to my friends on the Republican side you may own the field right now buy you wont own it forever I pray God when the Democrats take back control we don’t make the kind of naked power grab you are doing.
Charles Schumer 5/23/2005: They want their way every single time. And they will change the rules, break the rules, and misread the constitution so that they will get their way.
Hillary Clinton 5/23/2005: The Senate is being asked to turn itself inside out, to ignore the precedent to ignore the way our system has work, the delicate balance that we have obtain that has kept this constitution system going, for immediate gratification of the present President.
Max Baucus 5/19/2005: This is the way Democracy ends. Not with a bomb but with a gavel.
I had a couple other folks on another thread telling me that an AWB will never pass so we are all worried about nothing...
Yeah, I called ‘em “idiots” too so don’t feel bad about thinkin’ it.
Depends on how frightened they are.
Of the media. An of us.
If you dont get an NFA license, you can expect the SWAT teams to descend on your house.
“They had best be careful what they wish for. Actions have consequences. The consequences of this one are beyond fathonable.”
“Unintended” consequences, surely!
I doubt that Dingy Harry will ever bring Feinstein’s bill to the floor for a vote. He wants to get re-elected himself and there are a bunch of red state Dems up for re-election in 2014. They will not vote for gun control right now. These pols all know that the mood of the country is not for gun control.
No way. Lettuce is a stalwart defended of freedom and a loyal conservative! [choke] Almost wasn't able to type the words.
He can't help it.
It's what he does!
Oh believe me, I don’t feel bad about thinking it at all. In fact, since there’s not a thing I can do since so many of ny fellow ‘conservatives’ spent the last several years telling me how I had to vote in the very people who just caved on the fiscal cliff thing and will in all likelihood cave on all or even part of the 2nd Amendment, I am taking enormous pleasure in their “WHATT!!! THIS IS NOT FAIR!!!” sniveling.
We tried to tell them principles mattered. We tried to tell them the GOP was only going to screw them. And all we got for our troubles was excuses that continue to this very day and called ‘traitors to our country’ for not going bug nuts over their lib candidates. And I don’t just mean Romney.
Know what? Good. They damn well got what they asked for so they can all STFU about it. When they had the chance to stand up for what was right, they turned their backs on what they claimed to believe in and did everything they could to ‘Win” Well lookie at what they “won”..
We can’t trust a thing the GOP tells us and they side with the Dems more often than not.
Pissed. Boy am I. And I could give a damn what the idiots have to say because they know I and others like me were 100% right all along.
I see where you are coming from and I'm tempted as well to sit home on election day until the GOP gives us a truly conservative candidate to vote for—it may be the only way to teach them short of starting a third party.
But the damn Democrats keep nominating America hating liberal fascists and then it's either Hell or an uncomfortable place and you just can't let the biggest evil bastard win without a fight.
Wouldn’t cover bolt-, pump- or lever-action.
Not that that’s any reason for celebration.
Which would be a shame since a pistol round lever action makes for a decent home defense weapon.
This issue covers both dims and republicans and it is THE “line in the sand”... watch. I understand what you are saying but this is the foundation of this Republic and enough in DC know it... the communists will vote to ban and they may get it through the communist Senate but the House will not go for it.
Wouldn’t any legislation have to originate and pass the House first?
Gee, what happened to the House?
That conveniently shoot the same 5.56 ammo as the guns they are coming after..
I can just imagine using a portable battery pack and actuator in the butt stock that will perform the same lever action electrically, or a co2 cylinder and piston.
...when they should just ban hamsters;)
I would not be surprised if someone came up with a kit that would indeed turn a lever action into something that fires continuously.
If a full ban gets started and indeed America prepares for the second revolutionary war millions of new AR owners will be searching for burst and full auto sear kits, or getting a 3D printer to make copies they can then use as parts for molds and to then make cast metal parts.
Because of the superior firepower of multiple agencies with a lot more ammunition Americans need an edge other than being numerically superior and having bad breath.
Take out the bottom of the rifle where the clip resides and install a magazine or belt feed capable mechanism and one has a fairly portable mini-gun—retool the works to allow fast barrel replacements and you have a very accurate and deadly weapon.
You know, If the fascist gunphobes do succeed in taking our semi-autos, it will indeed create a cottage industry in home grown AUTOMATIC weapons—then the Obama jackbooted commie thugs will have a real time.
