Metro says that Metrobuses traveling in parts of Southeast Washington are being pelted with rocks. As part of a campaign to discourage this, police are distributing a flier reminding people not to throw rocks at buses or cars.

The Metro Transit Police and Metropolitan Police Department have been distributing the flier, which features a reminder that throwing rocks at vehicles is a crime. It also includes 911 as well as numbers for D.C. police (202-727-9099) and the transit police (202-962-2121, which riders may or may not recognize as the number repeated in system-wide announcements).
The transit agency took the rock attacks seriously enough to consider cutting nighttime service on the W6 and W8 routes. Metro decided last month not to discontinue the service.

The rocks are dangerous, and totally legal. Why not simply deem the rocks ILLEGAL..?
That would give the authorities good feelings, and the problem immediately goes away.
This did not occur to them?
I demand that homeowners register all their rocks!
Landscapers need a Federal Granitic Dealer License.
There needs to be a limit on the number of rocks a person can carry on them.
Concealed Rock Carry Permits must be instituted!

Gee.... somebody ought to pass a law !? Wait a minute aren’t there about 50,000 + laws on the books already (and counting). When are idiots going to realize that if people don’t want to obey the laws, they won’t. How many of those fabric, bedding and furniture tags have you torn off in your lifetime? See :)
This is a problem we all experience. It is almost impossible to remember that we should not throw rocks at buses. If Whitey is sitting by a window on the bus you just want to throw a rock at him. If that guy from the CRIPS is on the bus you just want to throw a rock. Control your urge to throw a rock use shoot the 9mm instead.
Institute a Rock Buyback program.
A few billion here, a few billion there, and pretty soon you’ll have a good hill of rocks!

It’s good that this is happening in DC.
Scary looking rocks that look like rocks found on battlefields need to be banned.
Friendly-looking rocks that break bus windows just as easily are okay.
Urban areas are growing increasingly alien to my small town sensibilities.

Isn’t DC the highest or one of the highest “states” in spending per pupil in public education? And they expect them to read this flyer?
Feral, uncivilized, black youth are throwing the rocks. We’re not allowed to identify them as such, but these are the people throwing rocks.
Didn’t they go to Jesse Jackson speeches and chant “I AM SOMEBODY”??? Aren’t they proud that Obama is president? What’s with these feral urban black boys, many of whom are likely gang members also????
