Man sentenced to life-term for '07 maul hammer triple murder

A man who was convicted of using a maul hammer to kill his wife, sister-in-law and mother-in-law in their West Rogers Park home because he felt disrespected was sentenced to a life prison term, prosecutors said.

Daryoush Ebrahimi, 61, was sentenced today in connection with killings that happened on Feb. 17, 2007 at their apartment. Ebrahimi had been convicted of the three murders last August, prosecutors said in a press release.

According to prosecutors, the Chicago Police and Fire Departments were called to Ebrahimi’s home in the 6400 Block of North Washtenaw Avenue after a relative called 911 after receiving a phone call from Ebrahimi. When investigators arrived, they found Ebrahimi in his apartment covered in blood and striking himself in the head with a hammer.

I grew up in West Rogers Park, in the 6400 block of North Maplewood Avenue--less than a quarter of a mile away! Needless to say, the old neighborhood has changed a bit. The demographics have changed. And there was no crime at all when I grew up there in the '50s and '60s.
