Repeal Obamacare bill: Michele Bachmann introduces first bill of 113th Congress

The Minnesota Representative introduced a bill to repeal the Affordable Health Care Act, the first bill of the 113th Congress--but it stands almost no chance of passing.

Second verse, same as the first, apparently.

Rep. Michele Bachmann, the Tea Party darling and former presidential candidate introduced the first House bill of the 113th Congress Thursday.

Of course, the bill she introduced was to--you guessed it--repeal Obamacare in its entirety.

At noon today, I introduced the first bill of the 113th Congress to repeal Obamacare in its entirety.— Michele Bachmann (@MicheleBachmann) January 3, 2013

Even if Bachmann's bill stood a chance of becoming law (it almost certainly would not pass the Democrat-led Senate and be vetoed by President Obama), it's not even the first time House Republicans have tried to repeal the act.

Bachmann's bill, H.R. 45, "To Repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and health care-related provisions in the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010," marks the 34th time such a bill has been introduced--to no avail--in the House.

(As a side note, Bachmann dropped out of the 2012 presidential race on Jan. 4, 2012, exactly one year ago Friday.)

A bill in the House is useless with the Rat controlled Senate and OBobo.
Defund the damn thing and agencies involved, which the House can do.

DOA when it reached in the Harry Reid controlled Senate. This one will suffer the same fate ( we have LESS number of Republican Senators in 2013 compared to 2012 ).

“Wasn’t this done before, a few times? Then how come O-care is still law?”

Political theater, I’m afraid. Riders on other bills that defunds bits and pieces would probably be more effective. But you can’t make a big deal out of a rider and claim Tea Party darling-hood.

Political theater, I’m afraid.

Consider it a political message from the house. They are willing to overturn ObamaCare. If we are willing to elect like minded senators and president, it will be overturned.

So they are making their mark and passing the ball to us.

I was being sarcastic.

The past two years this was fun (to pass these symbolic repeals) back when we all imagined it would help boot O out of the WH, and pick up House and Senates Seats.

But since none of that happened MB should trying thinking of a new idea or two, I think the needle is stuck on part of the record.

RE :’Is this before or after she helped keep John Boehner as the speaker???”

both are about as meaningful as the other

JB was going to be Speaker again, and O_care is not being repealed anytime soon, regardless of a few votes here or there.

No one ran against him,.

ObamaCare is still law because there are enough Phony Cons who support ObamaCare....and many muti national corps. that support it

Note how none of the global corporations complain about the European and Canadian national health care systems

Let her do it though she should not have voted for the speaker with confidence. Wrong message, imo. If she had voted against him, I would have been more impressed with her motives. Kinda frustrating that the system they know is not set for reforms. Though, they come across as good/bad actors. Too bad, she was not tied to Rove and goes along in the end like most do.

GM saves an estimated $800 per unit by building cars in Canada because the cost of worker health care is shifted onto the government. Lots of businesses here would like to hand it off as well, I'm sure.

I would have more faith in her intent if she hadn’t just voted to keep Boehner as Speaker. Didn’t the guy say that since ObamaCare iss the law they would fund it?
