The White House Is Planning A Major Push On Guns, And One Democratic Senator Is Already Calling It 'Extreme'

The White House's task force led by Vice President Joe Biden is considering expansive proposals to tackle the nation's gun violence, something that is already drawing early condemnation from even Democratic lawmakers.

The Washington Post reported Sunday that the group headed by Biden is preparing to go far beyond a simple reinstatement of the expired assault weapons ban:

A working group led by Vice President Biden is seriously considering measures backed by key law enforcement leaders that would require universal background checks for firearm buyers, track the movement and sale of weapons through a national database, strengthen mental health checks, and stiffen penalties for carrying guns near schools or giving them to minors, the sources said.

But on Sunday, newly sworn-in Sen. Heidi Heitkamp, a Democrat from North Dakota, called the reported proposals "way in the extreme" and cautioned that they would not pass if brought together in a comprehensive bill.

"Well, I think you need to put everything on the table," Heitkamp said on ABC's "This Week with George Stephanopoulos."

"But what I hear from the administration — and if The Washington Post is to be believed — that's way, way in extreme of what I think is necessary or even should be talked about. And it's not going to pass."

It's an especially strong rebuke from the Democrat Heitkamp, who comes from a red-leaning state and earned an "A" rating from the National Rifle Association. The Post reported that the White House plans to bypass trying to earn support for the measure from the NRA, instead turning to businesses like Wal-Mart for support.

On "This Week," Heitkamp said that there should be

If they overreach, they won’t even have the votes in the senate

Obamugabe will do this, while simultaneously committing some other anti-Constitutional move. We will focus on his hatred for the 2nd Amendment and only find out later the other activity he did that destroyed liberty.

He is calling attention, on purpose, to this move so that we won’t see something else coming.

The reason Obama wants our guns is to make the "final solution" easier.

Anybody who doesn't see that coming is blind.

He'll overreach at first and we'll be relieved to take what he offers later.

Or at least thats his plan.

Even Canada gave up the effort.

""A sixth claim is that the data in the long-gun registry are too valuable to be destroyed. Unfortunately, the many errors and omissions in the registry vitiate its utility. The RCMP testified to the auditor-general that they could not rely on it in court. Recent information shows that many errors remain despite the best efforts of the Canadian Firearms Program.

Immense problems similarly have been reported concerning the accuracy of the South African firearms registry and the now-abandoned New Zealand long-gun registry.

The RCMP has reported error rates between 43% and 90% in firearms applications and registry information. " "

Then there is the non-compliance of the law abiders not to speak of the gang-bangers.

This has never been intended to pass, matter of fact it has be designed to fail.....all to set up conservatives as extreme and so the kenyan can issue multiple executive orders that will eventually declare all guns are illegal......and thus can be confiscated.

stiffen penalties for carrying guns near schools

They have alredy lost before they even start because the Supreme Court has already ruled that the federal government has no authority to institute a "gun free zone" around schools.

Obama wants to lose in the House. This is only the start with immigration amnesty, more tax hikes, etc. to paint the House as against the will of the people and run for a democrat House 2014 where he can pass his radical agenda.

Why is Sen. Heidi Heitkamp....a Democrat?

Maybe Heidi needs to ask herself that.

I lean more towards “Lock and load, here they come” - takes me back to earlier days. Different enemy though. Who would have thought my greatest enemy would be my own government?

I saw a graphic that read something like, ‘I saw a movie one time when only the government had guns: Shindler’s List.’

“Who would have thought my greatest enemy would be my own government?”

Those among the Founders who wanted “The right of the people to keep and bear arms” in the Bill of Rights.

IOW, no committee assignments for her.
