Duflo, who was raised in a “left-leaning Protestant” family, said she became aware of economic divides and social injustice at a very early age.

“I was always conscientious of the gap between my existence and that of the world’s poor,” she told weekly French magazine l’Express in a January, 2011 article. “As a child, I was extremely troubled by the complete randomness of chance that I was born in Paris to an intellectual, middle class family, when I could have just as easily been born in Chad. It’s a question of luck. It inspired in me a sense of responsibility.”

Yep, she most likely is, searching on her name generates some interesting associations.

There is no doubt that she is a flaming commie.

While Duflo may feel that her privilege in life is the result of chance, President Obama’s intention to appoint her to his Global Development Council is not. Ever since completing her undergraduate studies at Paris’s prestigious Ecole Normale Supérieure in 1994, Duflo has led a distinguished career, collecting numerous academic honours and awards along the way.

Translation:

Duflo knows nothing useful about economics.

Amen to that. The conservative philosophy is: “I am grateful and humble for the advantages I have been given in life by the good fortune of my birth — and I am determined to at least pass those advantages on unimpaired.”

“She could have also been born on the Island of Lesbos...”

She does have the attentive rictus of one who knows the subtleties of flannel shirts.

Gosh ... Have Americans been told the ways and knowledge of the French are superior to the ways and knowledge of Americans? Why not? Americans have been being told for decades, by our elected, the foreign ways and knowledge is superior. Now we have men and women, in government, to make, We the People, understand. Gonna get interesting, am going to say from here. Who would have thought? More huma and wieners, my fellow citizens?

She’s a behavioral economist interested in finding out why the poor make the wrong decisions. So should welfare be in kind or in cash? You see the poor are a class (pre-proletarian?) and since we know what’s best for them, we just have to manipulate them into making the best choices. Who’s we you ask? Why that would be the government. It’s either arrogance or flat out stupid. But just think of how it will grow the economy with all the new government jobs required to figure it all out. And besides, we have to make everyone equal and proletarian so the glorious revolution can commence and the pre-proles were an obstacle. Well something like that anyways.

It’s a question of luck.

Oh really?

How much thought did you put into that opinion?

Perhaps there is far more involved than luck and you have missed the boat entirely.

...and in so doing, have distorted your destiny, your education, your possibilities, your outlook, feelings, and probably a number of other concepts.

That makes sense. Obama has real unemployment stabilized up at a level close to French unemployment, and he needs expert assistance to keep it there.
