White House Weighs Broad Gun-Control Agenda in Wake of Newtown Shootings

A working group led by Vice President Biden is seriously considering measures backed by key law enforcement leaders that would require universal background checks for firearm buyers, track the movement and sale of weapons through a national database, strengthen mental health checks, and stiffen penalties for carrying guns near schools or giving them to minors, the sources said.

To sell such changes, the White House is developing strategies to work around the National Rifle Association that one source said could include rallying support from Wal-Mart and other gun retailers for measures that would benefit their businesses. White House aides have also been in regular contact with advisers to New York Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg (I), an outspoken gun-control advocate who could emerge as a powerful surrogate for the Obama administration’s agenda.

In addition to potential legislative proposals, Biden’s group has expanded its focus to include measures that would not need congressional approval and could be quickly implemented by executive action, according to interest-group leaders who have discussed options with Biden and key Cabinet secretaries. Possibilities include changes to federal mental-health programs and modernization of gun-tracking efforts by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Obama’s advisers have calculated that the longer they wait, the more distance there is from the Newtown massacre and the greater the risk that the bipartisan political will to tackle gun violence will dissipate.

“This is not something that I will be putting off,” Obama said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” in an interview broadcast last Sunday.

At the White House meeting, Stanek said, “the vice president indicated that there was a very short timeline for him to get back to the president with his recommendations because the American public has a short memory.”

“People” don’t matter.
The Elite do.

The congress and White House don’t care about people. People scare them. They care about power.

Write your congressmen, but realize that they don’t really worry to much about what you people think.

Look at Obamacare. The People didn’t want it, but in the end, it didn’t matter.

Any and I do mean ANY politician who supports the communist “gun control” (confiscation) of American firearms will be targeted in their next drive for reelection.

Any store, e.g. Walmart, etc. who sides with Obumbum's proposed “gun control” (confiscation) efforts will be driven into bankruptcy, just like Kmart after they removed all firearms from their stores.

This time around, Americans are wise to the communist so called gun control legislation with two (2) rulings from the US Supreme Court in Heller, and McDonald v Chicago clearly ruling the right to keep and bear arms is an “individual protected right” NOT a collective right of the State or Federal government!

The Frankenstein legislative bill will not be passed like the Obumbum socialized medicine bill was. The Republicans control the US House of Representatives, let a single RINO support any gun control bill from this WH and there will be hell to pay in ways these RINO’s cannot even begin to imagine!

If the communist thought the socialized health care bill pissed off the American people, watch what happens when they attempt to take the American people's protected right to keep and bear arms from them, specially after two (2) Supreme Court rulings upholding the American People's protected right to keep and bear such weapons!

Let the fun begin, America will have a front row seat at this circus act, watching who will be the first stupid idiot dumb enough to put their names on a gun control bill along side the known communist in Congress!

Blow back won't be just the first result of such asinine communist legislation, but, a complete sweep up and out of all Congress personnel who supports such crap, starting with all RINO’s!

How about printing on the front page of every newspaper and on every federal website, the names of all welfare rats, women who have had abortions, along with all politicians who have voted for gun control over their careers in Congress?

I can't think of a more faster way to start the second American revolution than to start confiscating American firearms, planned or just a coincidence?

If the GOP controlled house folds on this, the republic is done.

No it's not. The House better damn well know this is the most important vote in their long history. If they fail, we won't.

Democrats, enablers of mass shootings, want more of America’s children mass murdered.

I have no idea why people are getting so worked up about this. unless king barack issues another one of his rotal decrees, he hasn’t got the votes in the house. whatever mr. 51% is thinking, he can’t get it passed. not democratically, anyway.

Perhaps you might not have noticed that the RINOs in the house really don't stand for constitutional principles.

he hasn’t got the votes in the house.

* * *

You’d think that, wouldn’t you? But it seems the bunch of RINOs we have in the House now will p*ss their neatly pressed pants at the first sign of disapproval by the media. I absolutely would NOT count on “our guys” to do the right thing. I could easily see them rolling over to expose their collective soft underbelly to The Won.

The agenda spelled out here is the complete list of everything from every gun grabbers' wet-dream. These statists are now working with Bloomberg on one side and the Brady Bunch on the other, and they know they have to do as much damage as possible before the next election.

We have got a fight on our hands, folks.

It's long past time to put all the BS differences aside, and join the NRA, GOA, SAF, CCRKBA, JPFO, Etc. RIGHT NOW and join the fight. No more complaints; no more rumor-mongering, no more room for doubt. "We must all hang together or we will surely hang separately".

I do believe the approach here, as we have seen before, is to go for massive overreach, and then settle on a partial set of infringements, since that will be so much more 'reasonable'. Well, not this time. We cannot yield an inch.

Make ready. And may God favor our endeavor.

You mean those same guys that then Virginia Attorney General and now Governor Bob McDonnell threatened to jail for coming down and trying to cause trouble in the Commonwealth?

Gun Control Mission Creep. A little regulation here, a small law there, expanding data bases, an increasingly dependent on government electorate who can’t be bothered to think for themselves...it is just a matter of time.

Vice President Biden is seriously considering measures backed by key law enforcement leaders that would ... strengthen mental health checks

THIS is a key part of the agenda. It is aimed DIRECTLY at veterans and their right to bear arms.

The proposed "measures" would brand every veteran with a PTSD or depression diagnosis, or who has had any medications for same, to be psychologically unfit to exercise his 2nd Amendment rights.

This is a back-door gun grab targeting the one group the Obamanation wants desperately to disarm.

From the posted excerpt of the article.

“Biden’s group has expanded its focus to include measures that would not need congressional approval and could be quickly implemented by executive action, according to interest-group leaders who have discussed options with Biden and key Cabinet secretaries.”

Taken from the article:

Possibilities include changes to federal mental-health programs and modernization of gun-tracking efforts by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives...”

They’re openly admitting they’ll use EO’s if they have to. Congress has no backbone, hasn’t called him on any of his other EO’s.

>>and stiffen penalties for carrying guns near schools or giving them to minors<<

This is a lil secret they don't want folks to know about. Do you realize how many times you pass through a school zone on your way to work, to wally world or whatever?

Even if you are not traveling down a road clearly marked, “school zone”, you may still be within one hundred feet or whatever the law subscribes in your state to a school and not even know it.

Consider this, you and your buddies are going on a hunting trip. Y'all get the truck all loaded up and head out to the lease. On your way out of town, a police officer pulls you over for a defective tail light.

Upon further investigation, he ask if you have any weapons in the vehicle. You, being a law abiding citizen answer...”yes”. You have hunting rifles, but you also brought along a semi 9mm w/high cap mag. for some fun plinking.

He then proceeds to place cuffs on you and informs you that you are under arrest for possession of a firearm within 100 ft of a school. You had no idea, that on the backside of the strip mall he stopped you in front of, there is an elementary school

Guess what, you've just become a felon. Think it can't happen? You bet it can.
