The government should ban high-sugar cereals such as Coco Pops and other foods that are contributing to an obesity epidemic among British children, the shadow health secretary has urged.

Regulations limiting the amount of sugar, salt and fat in processed foods should be considered if the food industry does not take action itself, according to Labour’s Andy Burnham, who has begun a consultation on how to tackle obesity.

Burnham highlighted the case of breakfast cereals, saying many aimed at children are more than one-third sugar by weight. …

I had to quit sugary cereals, because about two hours after eating them, I would get the worst sugar crash.....now I’m on Atkins, and no more worries.

There is a growing amount of data that proves the fructose triggers a glycemic response that is definitely unwanted. Table sugar (sucrose) is 50% glucose and 50% fructose. Your body metabolizes them differently and fructose triggers insulin resistance - thus the alarming rise in diabetes. New data also shows that the metabolism of large amounts of fructose also affects LDL levels (although, I’m convinced that since carbs create a craving for other carb laden and HFCS sweetened products which are usually loaded with hydrogenated oils - the LDL effect could be a by product of the other ingredients rather than the fructose itself). HFCS is poison and will kill us all quickly along with hydrogenated oils.

I eat hot oatmeal or eggs.
The cereal with sugar was a memory trip to ‘76.

Actually, with all the socialist European governments sliding into depression, I think that obesity problem will take care of itself when the economy crashes. In fact, those fat children will have a few more days of life compared to the ultra thin ones.

I just watched a documentary called forks over knives.

Very interesting about how diet can impact our health.

No meat, no dairy, no refined sugar. They are government conglomerates now, pressuring the public to consume their products.

I’m gonna try it, see how it feels.
