Well that would have made sure that Bohner was never Speaker again, but my point was not about more House Rs making silly symbolic votes for West, Palin, or Mickey-Mouse when they know Bohner will get it. That’s about as real as all those symbolic repeals of O-care (more on the way.)
My point was that not one of those folks who opposed plan B, this Tax Relief Bill, or even symbolically voted against Bohner had the guts to stand up and run against Bohner themselves, Where was Lou Gohmert TX? Where are the others? Afraid to take a risk?
No, its too easy and safe to sit on the sidelines and vote ‘no’ on bills that pass and ‘yes’ on bills that never make it into law, and complain on FNC like that’s doing something.
Actually this is not true at all.
The Speaker to be elected needs more than half the House members votes (>50% =217 ??) by House rules, not the greatest % of votes. So Pelosi couldn't get it unless many Rs voted for her which wouldn't happen. So that is not why they did it.
If he'd had gotten 23 fewer votes then there is no Speaker and they would have to try again. That was posted here.
That is why the whole symbolic protest vote was so stupid.
On Thursday FNC babe Megyn Kelly reported on it and pointed out that it was much to do about nothing, no one would run against him, and he would be elected Speaker again anyway on one of the following votes, because no one else wanted that job to be Speaker, she had the funniest 'Oh brother' look on her face.
