FAIL of the Day—-Twenty-five Percent of the Journal News’ Rockland County Gun-Map not Accurate
Rockland Times ^ | 1/04/13 | DYLAN SKRILOFF

Posted on 01/04/2013 4:28:40 PM PST by Libloather

The intentions of the Journal News’ editorial board in publishing a highly controversial “interactive gun map” are further occluded by an inconvenient fact.

According to Rockland County Clerk Paul Piperato, in Rockland County a large number of the names and addresses on the map are not even correct.

Piperato said, “I’d figure about 25 percent of the addresses are not accurate.”

He explained that when persons change their address or pass away it is supposed to be reported to the County Clerk’s office, but the county has no means to vigorously enforce this regulation. Thus pistol permit and other permit registries are not reliably accurate as a source of addresses in Rockland.

A story with only 25% errors probably makes this the most accurately sourced story they printed all year.

Yeah, imagine the original gun owner moved, lost all the firearms in the lake or something.

Print a list of women who have had abortions.... Coulter came up with that idea. Liberals might ‘get’ that....

Note to self: when I die, make sure I tell the County Clerk that I’m dead.

That's not gonna look good in court.

But they had good intentions. Don't ever look at results.

After your ghost gets done at the county clerk office instead of going straight to heaven could I convince you to find a liberal lawmaker and haunt them until they turn into a ghost due to the stress?

Sounds like they need better lawyers.

The recklessness of the paper to publish the names and addresses of people legally owning firearms is shameful to say the least.
How many of those listed are police, prosecutors, defense attorneys or people with orders of protection? Now the bad guys know where they and their family members live.

Wait’ll some gunless-lib now living at an address reported as having firearms gets robbed ‘point blank’ for his firearms.
Ever hear a stuck pig squeal?

At least, this should cool the heels of any other publishers/reporters trying this - and maybe even Gannet is now holding it's breath hoping not to get a class lawsuit dumped in it's vicious head.

I find it hard to believe that their contract has no escape clause. Rockland locals need to twist the screws a little harder.

If I’m going to leave town, the last thing on my to do list is contact the county clerk.

If they have so much trouble enforcing the law, maybe they should just repeal it.

I suspect there will be incoming calls from some good ole lawyers from Texas. Man this is going to be an easy couple of million. Let’s call it serious money even by Texas standards.

Any settlement should be at least equal, preferably double, all their assets. Libs have used this tacit or decades.
