Middle-class workers will take a bigger hit to their income proportionately than those earning between $200,000 and $500,000 under the new fiscal cliff deal, according to the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center.

Earners in the latter group will pay an average 1.3 percent more - or an additional $2,711 - in taxes this year, while workers making between $30,000 and $200,000 will see their paychecks shrink by as much as 1.7 percent - or up to $1,784 - the D.C.-based think tank reported.

Overall, nearly 80 percent of households will pay more money to the federal government as a result of the fiscal cliff deal.

We knew this. Everyone knew this.

But John Boehner decided not to tell the media.

What part of the new law auto-signed by Obama while on his way to Hawaii says that someone making $30,000 will pay more Federal Taxes than last year? What part?

This hypothetical person’s paycheck takehome will go down but not because of Federal Taxes that I’m aware of. The law keeps the 2004 Bush Taxes cuts for them in place.

What this is really all about is that 2% of their paychecks for SS - back up to the same percentage they (this $30,000 earner) paid a couple of years ago.

Don’t vote for the ass-clown ... and then whine when you get what you voted for. Pay your ‘fair share’.

There were a lot of dummies who bought the ass-clowns lies and voted for him. I heard a bunch of his supporters moaning because their social security tax almost doubled this week. I hope I run into them again on pay day when this tax rate hits them.

This is a good thing. The working poor aren’t paying their fair share, and the rich already bear the majority of the load.

When people are up in arms about this in the coming months, when they see less money in their checks, I am sure the rat media will remind the sheeple that the Pubbies were the last ones to sign off on this 'deal' and gave it their full blessing....that the Pubbies were the ones who could have stopped this, but went along with it.

Oh yeah, I see it coming down the pike, just like that..

Although you are right...It's still a tax.

And anyone who thinks that that SSI deduction goes into some account for your SSI....I've got news for you!!! HA!HA! ROFLOL!!!

When companies have to match every employee's SSI payment...it's a tax. When the self-employed have to pay double it's a tax. And when you die before 64 yrs of age...the Feds TAKE IT ALL!!!!!

It's a freaking TAX!!!!

And it's a freaking RIP-OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He can’t. The Senate had the county running on continuing resolutions for four years because they all believed that fate would save the from reality. The 2012 election sealed their fate. Stalemate. Both parties expected to take over all 3 branches. Nothing had changed and the day of reckoning comes on Jan 1, 2013. It was the milk subsidy time bomb and other time bombs which ultimately forced the Senate to act. Congress cannot run on continuous resolutions any longer since this crap sandwich passed. All revenue bills have to start in the GOP controlled house. Not gonna happen. We can thank ourselves and the Tea Party members in Congress for making the Senate act by not caving like Bonor.

To all people who voted democrat and who actually work for a living; No thank you for being as stupid as you are. Stupid is as stupid does and you all done did it to yourselves, your children, and to all of us who know that many of you are too stupid to live as you are such greedy fools to beleive that hurting others livelihoods wouldn’t hurt your own. Your wrong by a long shot as now you will be paying higher taxes out of your own monies because you are nut case nazis. And wait to see what your commiunist elect dictator will do when gas prices, food, clothing, and taxes soar as jobs decrease and companies close shop.
Democrats are an ugly, evil, arrogant and ignorant people who are dead in the water and who will sink all people around them by thieving and stealing others hard earned money.

I knew all that. I guess you didn’t see where I said it was a scam. My original comment was that good or not, it is technically insurance not a tax.

The reason I said this is because to let the media and Democrats intentionally mislead some who don’t know better only let’s them frame the argument like they always do. If you can’t see that I don’t know what else to tell you.
