Connecticut State Representative Stephen D. Dargan (D-New Haven), co-chairman of the states Public Safety Committee, has introduced a bill that would make public the names and addresses of gun permit holders in Connecticut under the states Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
Dargans bill is in response to the Dec. 14th shootings in the Sandy Hook School in Newtown, CT, and also occurs as a Westchester County, NY newspaper, the Journal News, is drawing widespread, nationwide anger for publishing a map with the names and addresses of gun permit holders. The bill, if passed, would reverse the state legislatures decision, made nearly two decades ago, to protect gun permit holders' personal information from disclosure.

So, I guess it would be “cool” with State Representative Dargan if I were to use public records to list his home address, telephone number, automobile license plate numbers, etc...
Dargan sounds like a hardcore Nazi. He’s putting people’s lives in danger. I guess he doesn’t really give a ——. He needs to be voted out as soon as possible.
They believe that the reelection of Obama means that they get to rule over everyone else.
It is not hard to see how this will devolve because people are not going to put up with this bullying and the Leftists are spoiling to get a bloody nose.
Stalinist tactics
All the more reason not to register your firearms!!!
#1 unintended consequence:
The bad guys, now knowing where the “home defense” is in place, have only to hit the houses two or three doors away, to be assured of entry and easy pickings.
That victim is going to be very angry that the “business” was pushed his way.
And of course, it was all the gun owner’s fault.
Good going, A-Hole:
1) Bad guys would know which houses were completely unarmed
2) Retired police officers who still have weapons would have their families in jeopardy
3) Anyone with a legal weapon also would have their lives in jeopardy
If I was not a gun owner, I wouldn’t my congressman to tell the world I am not armed and cannot protect myself, my family and property.

I'm sure Dargan wants to see MUCH more of this.
"First they came for the neighbor who owned a gun. Then they came for the neighbor who..."

This is Alinsky, raw & in your face.
Isolate, ostracize, stigmatize. Make your class target wear the scarlet letter or the yellow six pointed star.
Then send in the Gestapo.
Every legislator’s name adress and phone is public information...we can make that an interactive map too.
While, yes, a permit holder’s name is technically public info, one who want to know does have to do some work to find it.
The proposals like this nazi is pushing amount to little more than harrassment. OTH: it tells the bad guys who ISN’T armed. A regular lead service for robbers...
It's all at ZABASEARCH,
His address:

But no doubt he can expect police protection.
WTH is that thing for? Do we really want to know?
All this might get him at my house (if I lived in CT) would be a dead constituent of his with bullet holes and dog bites.
Not to mention people that armed themselves against an ex boyfriend or ex husband, have moved to get away from them, and have tried to ‘hide’.
They are now in plain view.....
They already publish the names and addresses of gun permit holders in Michigan. Telephone numbers too!
It’s called the phone book. Most of us are armed, permits or not. If the Libs don’t like it, tough sh1t, we aren’t asking their permission.
You thought that up all by yourself? Tell me Einstein, how does one “not register” your firearms? Have you lived in America since 1968 or so? Every time you buy a weapon it gets registered. Are you advocating stealing weapons?
Sturmabteilung first, Gestapo later.

But no doubt he can expect police protection.”
For some reason, that site dumps my android browser......
“The bad guys, now knowing where the home defense is in place, have only to hit the houses two or three doors away, to be assured of entry and easy pickings.”
And,,,, which house to watch, and ransack for weapons when no one is home!
Works both ways.
Since when did gun owners become equitable sex offenders?
You can sell them, lose them or give them away as gifts. Gifting a weapon is legal as long as the person recieving the is legally “clean” and not a minor etc. Check out BATF website for info.
Hint - Private Sale
"An objective observer might at this point have said, "Stripping motivated people of their dignity and rubbing their noses in it is a very bad idea."
John Ross, from the Author's NoteA Warning and Disclaimer to Unintended Consequences
The first gun stolen from any of the addresses may just result in a lawsuit of epic proportions that leaves Gauleiter Stephen D. Dargan flat broke and persona non grata for the rest of his days.
Mr. niteowl77
I've also bot and sold some guns....privately. No "registration" required.
So....you probably need to apologize to P.F.
You’ll also notice the ACLU and their Demrat supporters often lobby against notification laws on paroled pervs and want to give felons everywhere the right to vote.
Well, there are laws about PPI, and PII, and HIPAA.
All privacy rules - can’t reveal information.
Maybe my rifle is a rectal thermometer. That makes it medical, and protected under HIPAA.
Even though my only medical training is Boy Scout First Aid Merit badge, I will take your temperature for free.
I live in Maryland where you have to Fellate half the State Police to get a permit to carry. If I could get a permit I would be glad to have the State print my name and address.
Put it on a frickin Billboard for all I care, I will even take out an ad in the paper informing any and all.
Just give me the damned permit.
"The civilized men in the country did not know what to do. In the words of one historian, the moderates voiced desperate "appeals to reason [But] their techniques were distinctly out of tune with the wild emotionalism that seemed to have gripped a large part of the nation" The civility cherished by the civilized men had finally been defeated by their ideas, although they did not know that this was the cause."
"After years of preaching contradictions and of evading principles with an anti-ideological shrug, these men were astonished to see the nation conclude that man cannot live by principles, that reason is no guide to action, and that anything goes. After years of institutionalizing interest-group warfare, which they had justified as sacrifice or collective service, these men were astonished to see hostile gangs take to the streets and demand one anothers sacrifice. After years of undercutting the mind by preaching the primacy of gentle feeling (whether progressive, religious, or skeptical), these men were astonished to find that they had nothing more to say, and that there was no one left to listen. The moderates were helpless. The authorities were helpless. The killers were taking over."
"On January 30, 1933, after due attention to every requirement of German law and of the Weimar Constitution, Nazi rule was made official
It took six months for the Chancellor to transform the country into a totalitarian state."
Leonard Peikoff - The Ominous Parallels
As Mark Twain once said, "History may not repeat itself, but it surely does rhyme."
“Sturmabteilung first, Gestapo later”
Verrry interezzting..... the S.A. were organized street enforcers. Is Obama’s `Civilian Defense Corps’ going to follow the same model? Identify, isolate, & surround the class enemy. Then, it was the Jews.
BTW, ever notice how advocacy for milspec rifle ownership is now media-attributed to `middle-aged white males’ and that this represents a shrinking demographic? Curious.
Human nature never changes and so-called “100 year floods” do occur - about every 100 years.
Well, well well. The Journal violated the law by publishing the gun owner’s names and addresses.
Where are the charges?
Hey Bob, not ever state requires gun owners to “register” their guns. In my state we don’t have to. Yes we do fill out the 4473 when we buy from a licensed dealer, but those records are kept at the gun dealer and not with law enforcement or feds.
If I buy a gun from a private citizen who is selling from their own collection I don’t have to even fill out the 4473. I would, at most, have to prove to them that I am not a criminal and can legally buy/own a gun.
So Einstein, what do you think about that? Time to take that BigFoot out of your mouth?
Tell me how in the hell do MILLIONS of weapons get into the hands of druggies, illegals, etc., etc. The registration laws only work so far. Haven’t you ever heard of military selling weapons off base, Fast and Furious, etc., etc. No I do not advocate stealing weapons but if criminals can get them why can’t honest people? And I think the New York fiasco of posting the names on the Google Map should be replied by posting the names of those who DO NOT have permits on a Google Map. Let the thieves know which houses to break into and see what the newspaper and idiot Congressman say to that.
Yes, all government officials and employees should have this info be public as well
I just read where some Rockland Corrections Officers were told by inmates that they “now know where they live”. Courtesy of the Journal News list.
Ha!! ROFLOL!!
Ha!! ROFLOL!!
Impeach this Nazi scumbag.
Federal emoluments to local LE is, IMHO, unconstitutional, as it is the province exclusively of the States (see the Ravalli County Supreme Court Case). Lyndon Johnson started it, which is your Good Housekeeping Seal of Unconstitutional, Crooked-As-a-Snake LBJ Crap. "Landslide Lynt'n" wanted to bribe every local government in America to do what he wanted.
In Houston, we average about two of these floods in 75 years, usu. exceeding the met men's expectations of a 100-year event handily each time.
And we get close to the 100-year flood levels about three more times in the interim.
I’d like to know if Dargan has any criminal record re drunk driving, public drinking, fighting, disturbing the peace, domestic violence, etc.
I wouldn’t want my kids going to his house if he does.
In fact, I wouldn’t want them going there if he drank, period.
And I certainly wouldn’t want them going there at all since he is out of his mind,, a dangerous person to decent people who believe that they have a right to defend themselves from the animals that now prow the streets of Bridgeport and other once great cities of Connecticut.
Dargan is a prime example of what a plague of far-out Democrats have done to a once sane state. After my last trip to Conn., I know that I won’t visit again unless I’m packing. What a shithole Bridgeport has become, just like its politicians.
“Dargan sounds like a hardcore Nazi. Hes putting peoples lives in danger. I guess he doesnt really give a . He needs to be voted out as soon as possible.”
He’s from New Haven, an area as “left as they come”.
He’s not going anywhere. If anything, he may get MORE votes next time because of this.
I've written more here:

State laws differ, and this could not have happened in Missouri. Under RSMo. 571.101.9, qualifications to carry a concealed weapon, which are the only sort of records of gun ownership maintained in Missouri, are not open to the public.
I don't think it could have happened in any other state where I've worked as a reporter. It looks like New York has a damaging loophole that needs to be closed, and I hope the NRA is working hard right now to check the laws of the other states to see how many other states there are where something like this could blow up.
I am normally a huge advocate of public access to government information the government does, after all, work for the taxpayers, not other way around and I have a decades-long history of fighting for access to records that some people don't want publicized. However, I can see absolutely no valid reason for gun ownership records to be public, and it's obvious that a lot of damage has already been done by publicizing them in New York.
The New York loophole needs to be closed, not spread to Connecticut.
