Gun Ammunition Sales On The Rise

CLOVIS, Calif. (KMPH) - Valley gun store owners say their shelves are becoming bare. Last month KMPH News reported gun sales are on the rise. Now, consumers are buying ammunition at a feverish pace.

James Mize, works at Clovis' Valley Rod and Gun store, he says people are afraid their gun rights will be touched, with California already having some the strictest gun control laws in the nation. He believes the federal government will simply force other states to follow the Golden State.

"About 10 days ago, these shelves were full, the only ones not selling right now are the larger caliber weapons. But the 223's, 22 mags., and primer supplies are almost completely wiped out," says Mr. Mize.

As ammunition and gun sales continue to skyrocket, gun enthusiasts are waiting to see what potential changes, if any, will take place.

The President's task force is currently meeting. An announcement is expected later this month.

People buying ammo and guns now with looming laws by the Communists are a little late to the dance. Anyone familiar with what has been going on politically the last twenty years with the RINO’s and Democrats should have been able to see this coming a mile away. All I have bought the last few years were some .45 long Colt for my SA Army.

And when you can find what you need/want, the prices are very much higher.

Finding ammunition right now is like trying to find grain after clouds of locust have passed through.

Yep. I thought a bucket (1,000 rds) of 5.56 was expensive at $460 last month, it's over a buck a round almost everywhere online ... cheaperthandirt.com has it at just over $2/rd in boxes of 20.

Un-freaking-believable. All the panic buying is sending prices through the roof.

“That would be a shame and tacit capitulation. “

That, and also, Cheaper Than Dirt has stopped selling guns! What IS it with those people???

"...My order for ammo from Cheaper Than Dirt that I ordered last Friday arrived today. OooooRah!...."

Good for you...., Cheaper than Dirt is sold out of almost all popular handgun ammo...amazing...

I was able to order an extra 200 rounds of .357....that's about it. They are TOTALLY out of .22 LR high velocity HP's, for example. Also, most popular 9mm, etc.

The times they are 'a changin'.

Somehow I just can't convince myself that this is just for self protection. Maybe the framers of the Constitution meant exactly what they said. Maybe the fear of our Government is no longer supportive of it's people.

If sales are up, one would expect that manufacturers would be stimulated to increase production.

Is that happening, or are they remaining on pace with 2001 numbers?

“Gun ammunition”? Is there some other type of ammunition that I’m unaware of?

“My son works at a a gun store and said that the Glock 19s appear to be coming with 10rd mags now.”

Probably what is happening is that the owner is switching them out and putting the high caps on sale for $100 a piece - win win for him.

Over the years, I would know what dealers would pocket magazines from new gun boxes and claim they only came with one, and sell the other. Just business, I guess, but BAD business.

“I should specify it was 5.56mm I ordered for a friend.”

I hope you got them in waterproof containers.

You know, water — boat —

My backorder of 25 boxes of 5.56, 75 gr HPBT just came in today. Order was placed the day after Conn. school shooting to beat the crush and will probably be my last for awhile until the craziness calms down.

I dropped by WalMart yesterday and found their ammo shelves about stripped bare. The man looking over the sports section said that they expect no more shipments until the manufacturers catch up.

I should add that I’m not late to the party. I stocked up on my ammo a long time ago. I was just adding to my supply for a new gun.

This happened in 2009 as well.
The manufacturers eventually caught up and ammo and guns were once again available

Catapult ammunition?

It’s a stupid-sounding headline, I’ll agree.

Yep, I expect this will be repeated.

In any event, I’m ready.
