Gun Ammunition Sales On The Rise

CLOVIS, Calif. (KMPH) - Valley gun store owners say their shelves are becoming bare. Last month KMPH News reported gun sales are on the rise. Now, consumers are buying ammunition at a feverish pace.

James Mize, works at Clovis' Valley Rod and Gun store, he says people are afraid their gun rights will be touched, with California already having some the strictest gun control laws in the nation. He believes the federal government will simply force other states to follow the Golden State.

"About 10 days ago, these shelves were full, the only ones not selling right now are the larger caliber weapons. But the 223's, 22 mags., and primer supplies are almost completely wiped out," says Mr. Mize.

As ammunition and gun sales continue to skyrocket, gun enthusiasts are waiting to see what potential changes, if any, will take place.

The President's task force is currently meeting. An announcement is expected later this month.

Finding ammunition right now is like trying to find grain after clouds of locust have passed through.

More AR-15s in private hands in forty years than 30-30 Winchesters in 110 years.

Meijers near me has probably 30 of the 20 round boxes of PMC Bronze for $11 each. Thinking I may need to go clean them out, even if it isn’t top shelf stuff.

Powder is hard to find too. I searched all over today for IMR4895 and couldn’t find any at all. Found some AA2495 though.

A local gun store’s Web site had pictures of the place with guns for sale on every wall. When I paid it a visit, the walls were bare and the racks were picked over.

Stunning.

Luckily, I am pretty well stocked on powders and primers. Also bought a furnace and some molds just in case the situation gets very bad.

Mine has always shot these with no issues. Hopefully the price is still near 8.99 a box though...

That would be a shame and tacit capitulation. However, I have a very string feeling that this administration is doing everything within their ability to threaten and cajole every manufacturer to conform to some artificial standard.

I think they unofficially threatened gun manufacturers, magazine manufacturers, ammo manufacturers, etc.

Obama will be able to brag that gun sales are way down for January 2013.

That is because there is nothing left on the shelves to buy and most weapons on the internet are “out of stock”’.

I think we would have heard about it if that was the case.

As for me, I will boycott any company who become fair weather friends to the 2A.

It was $10.97, not bad compared to what I have been seeing on gunbroker.com.

While in the Navy, stationed at Pensacola, I would try to shoot my 38 once a week at one of the many sand pits. After shooting, I would pick up a coffee can full of bullets that the rain brought up to the surface. I would recast them with my lyman single bullet mould. Loading target loads, and casting my own bullets, the largest expense was the primer.

I was loading 38’s for cheaper than I could buy 22’s.
