Police: Woman tried to buy iPads with food stamp card
Tracy Browning taken into custody
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -
Police say a Kentucky woman was arrested after she tried to buy iPads with her food stamp card.
Tracy Browning, of Louisville, KY, attempted to buy two iPads at Walmart with her Electronic Benefit Transfer card. When the card was declined, police said Browning grabbed the items, ran from the store and assaulted a store clerk on her way out of the store.

Hmmmm ... I never saw any of these signs at the local Apple Store in my town. Maybe I need to look closer?
EBT cards are also debit cards for more than food.
I’m surprised it declined..........
If she can shop and run that fast, she can certainly work. Cut her sorry ass off welfare and let her work like the rest of us.
Nothing like getting a few wrinkles in the belly to motivate a job search.
Guess she thought she had a right to those iPads.

Trayvons Mom?
Of course..dont ya know..everything is now a “right.” All part of the progressive left social justice agenda
She could be obama’s sister
guess she didn’t hear zero is only giving her phones so far
Another Amish Criminal, I see
hang on.... those ObamaPhones ain’t good enough for you princess??
She did her part, now it is payback time: free stuff for ebrybody!
I saw that sign on a vendor’s table at BJs Wholesale club. I was furious. The guy was selling FUDGE. When did it change to being able to buy luxury items?
If you want the luxury items, i.e. non nutritional foods, GET A JOB or do without. Besides, you and your fat kids don’t need the calories.
Well, the program which compels productive citizens to finance the telephones of the entitled class is affectionately called ‘Obamaphones’, (although Obama is not the one picking up the tab).
She merely took the initiative to commence the ObamaPads program. By applying the force personally to the store clerk, she bypassed the Federal government and created a more efficient Obamaism than Obama himself is capable of.
It is ethically similar: force is applied to productive citizens to strip them of possessions, which may then be supplied to Obama supporters. She merely cut out the middleman.
The irony of your statement is that if they need foodstamps, they shouldn’t be able to afford cable.
A few days ago...I was behind a woman with a couple kids. She bought the kids..some candy of some sort...with food stamps. Then she bot a pack of cig's with cash. I dunno if the kids were her's or not....but she got in a SUV...newer than mine. WTF!?!?
The Obamacard. Don’t leave the crib without it.
Southern fried I-pads w/ greens MMMMMMMMMM!!!
The USDA advertises about how to receive free food stamps to seniors. No more shame in taking handouts...it's a privilege that they need to be taking advantage of. Compliments of you and I.
I think food stamps should only be usable at a government run food store, which sells only staple foods.
I wants me some ObamaPADS!
Kinda has a ring to it.
Make it an on-line store (I'm sure there's an Obamaphone app for that) and have all deliveries made by the USPS. Win-Win the way I see it.
They caught her when she tried to use the EBT card to purchase more iPads at a different Walmart.
miz tracy, dere, sho don look underfed ~
I didn’t even know former president Clinton had his own wholesale club.

Then, with gold grilles and covered in gold chains, they go out and get into 2012 Caddy Escalades, Lexuses and Chevy Suburbans etc. Just amazing.
Has no one pointed out that, properly prepared, iPads taste like chicken?
That would be medicaid not medicare.
Regards,
GtG
Don’t laugh! Before long the Ipad will be an entitlement! Telephones, Cable TV and Cell phones are already!
I am a guardian and have bought snacks for the kids with their EBT/SNAP card and probably will again in the future. Should be a very small part of overall SNAP budget. Luxury and comfort foods have been evaluated many times by the Department of Agriculture and the logistical nightmare to designate them and enforce coding compliance by food producers led them to abandon an effort to exclude the sweet stuff. Should people also be prevented from purchasing raw ingredients and using them to bake cookies, etc?
Yeah, and I don't see what EBT cards have to do with the story anyway. She had purchase(s) declined and then tried to steal the items (allegedly).
Take it for what it was worth.
I'm a reasonable person...and a health care professional. I understand what's in front of me...might not be the story.
FWIW-
Have a good year!
Having a heavy flow this month was she????
Moochelle has said that there is an obesity epidemic and kids don’t need sugar. So if you are buying candy for kids with EBT cards, moochelle is not gonna be happy wif you.
If you have one, you can only buy groceries and drinks with them.
I wonder where she got the notion its a debit card. People expect everything free in this country and on their list is a free iPad!
Hmmm.
You need to have $10,000 or less to qualify for food stamps and other government assistance.
If you do, the good news is you never have to file a tax return.
There are unhealthful snacks and, well, not-quite-so-unhealthful ones and even decent ones like fruits. Since I am from the Twinkee generation it is always a challenge to pass up the confectionary display (except as a rare treat). I really think it is the fructose in current snacks that is the real problem — the real sugar in the old days wasn’t any big deal (except maybe for the dentist).
I’m not sure if you are joking but actually there is no asset test in most all states. Still is an income test.
As this is a consequence of the 2008 Farm Bill I was wondering if the asset test would be re-implemented if there were no Farm Bill extension.
Again, are you being facetious?
The EBT card is actually both a SNAP card and a TANF debit card in most states. The debit card side may or may not have any benefits on it.
