India paying welfare directly, aiming to end fraud

India will pay billions of dollars in social welfare money directly to its poor under a new program that aims to cut out the middlemen blamed for the massive fraud that plagues the system.

Previously, officials only handed out cash to the poor after taking a cut—if they didn't keep all of it for themselves—and were known to enroll fake recipients or register unqualified people. The program inaugurated Tuesday would see welfare money directly deposited into recipients’ bank accounts and require them to prove their identity with biometric data, such as fingerprints or retina scans. …

The program is loosely based on Brazil’s widely praised Bolsa Familia program, which has helped lift more than 19 million people out of poverty since 2003. It will begin in 20 of the country’s 640 districts Tuesday, affecting more than 200,000 recipients, and will be progressively rolled out in other areas in the coming months, (Finance Minister P.) Chidambaram said Monday. The country has 440 million people living below the poverty line. …

Don’t sweat it. If it is rejection it’s fine by me. I don’t quite understand why you have throw the Bible passages at me like a religious retard. Do you want me to throw some Bhagwat Gita passages at you just to return the compliments?

The only remark I made was the 666 makes no sense to an Indian. It wasn’t really an invitation for a rapid fire round of Biblical passages.

And I already know the BG would be wasted on you but I didn’t quite get why you persisted with your Biblical salvo. And while it might be common for you, I just think its silly.

They’ve been soon the same here in Brazil since the Lula administration. It’s a choice between the bennies getten eaten up by the bureaucrats, or by the moochers.

We all want voter ID. I see nothing wrong with
***It will start out as an innocuous, agreeable thing. Then...

People worshiped the dragon because he had given authority to the beast, and they also worshiped the beast and asked, “Who is like the beast? Who can wage war against it?”

It does. Doing it with anyone doesn’t make it any better.

If you truly believed in the “666” (Hindu numerals,LOL) hoopla, you’d just about now gather every government-endorsed document in your possession linking your name to it, make a pile of it all, and set it on fire.

That means all property deeds, passports, identification documents, financial instruments bearing your name, credit cards, debit cards, tax receipts, social security cards, birth certificates, etc. until you are free from the government controlling any aspect of your life through means other than nameless paper or coin currency.

Until you do that, you are a mere screaming hypocrite. The “Beast” already has you ID’d but you just haven’t realised it yet.

How does one escape being ID’d in America? It’s impossible. Which leads to the conclusion that ALL Americans are already ID’d, if they are American citizens.

So, the “mark” has been accepted, and is required for any assistance / facilitation involving the Amercan government (the “Beast”). It’s not most, it’s all.

India is still a far cry away from the surveillance / ID society that America already is. India has far fewer cops per thousand population to monitor them than America has, in the present.

What is so special about a retina scan that makes it qualitatively different from any other ID? An Indian citizen has better chances of going through life without needing any ID than an American citizen. Biometrics or not, the system has all Americans tagged like cattle, de facto. And Americans gulped it down without as much as a whimper.

You still have to renew your ID if you lose it, to continue living as before. You can’t expect to be totally disconnected from the system before agents are out to get you.

It is impossible to live an ID-less life in America. The system has enough data about you, your ancestors, your bosses, your neighbours to trace back your identity, regardless.
