Any Dems with a Conscience in Congress?
1/1/13 | originalbuckeye

Are there any elected Democrats who will put the survival of their country ahead of their Party? Are there any elected Democrats who care about the excessive spending their Party demands? Are there any elected Democrats who will defy their 'leaders' and put future generations ahead of the immature Socialists who have control of this country? $41 dollars of tax hikes for each $1 in spending cuts??? And they aren't spending cuts anyway??? This will put the final nail in the coffin of the once revered American Dream.

I am appalled and embarrassed that the Democrats are so intent on destroying this once great country. The only reason we aren't Greece right now is because Bernanke can print more and more and more money! ENOUGH!

For months now I have been asking, “Where are our honorable Democrats?” I believe they are out there somewhere.

There are no Dems with a Conscience, contrary to your belief.

See my tagline.

Earth to originalbuckeye, America didn't vote for spending cuts. America voted for Santa Claus.

The only reason we aren't Greece right now is because Bernanke can print more and more and more money!

And as long as we can keep kicking that can down the road, Americans will sleep well at night.

Liberalism is a religion. They’re doing this for our own good. So, conscience doesn’t come into play. Not to destroy us would be bad. They’d say, “America is evil. Rich is evil. Can’t you see that? Well, no matter, I’ll MAKE you see it. You’ll thank me when we reach utopia.”

There WAS one. Walter Minnick, a self-made man from Idaho, got elected to the House in 2008. He voted NO on the stimulus, TARP and 0bamacare. I even sent a small contribution and talked to his staff several times thanking him for his courage. A good man. He was defeated in 2010. Other than him, I know of none.

...like the GOP, they are all happy with the amount of corruption they share. No one will make waves while they all can inside trade and make millions. There is no punishment of any kind for anything. We all witness appointments of tax cheats, perverts, and traitors. It has now become common practice to watch limo after limo pick up male prostitutes nightly around the Marine Corps Memorial in DC......Washington is as corrupt as we knew it would get with Odungo in charge

Democrats are Liberal in Thought, Tyrants in Deeds.

Does that answer your question?

The problem is much worse than what your post implies. It isn’t that most Democrats push their agenda knowing it is wrong. That suggests all it would take is our talking them into doing the right thing. No, the problem is much more difficult to tackle. The problem is most Democrats believe in the secular socialist agenda - they really believe government has the answers and humans are perfectible. That is a much tougher nut to crack than if all we had to do was convince them to stop being shady politicians and do the right thing.

Yup, a lot of people don't want to hear that though. The public is not with us right now. They want spending cuts in theory, but will howl in rage if you actually cut anything beyond maybe prisons and foreign aid. America is simply following in Europe's footsteps. Republicans will mostly kick the can because, in the end, there just isn't much support from the public for any tough decisions and votes.

Large and growing most compelling reason for considering the potential for a secession movement in this country, dividing the “red” counties/congressional districts in this country from the “blue” pockets scattered around throughout the nearly contiguous “red” region. Declare these geographic area to be two separate countries (or at least the “red” portion as one, and the “blue” pockets as a dozen, or a hundred, or whatever, little separate republics) and continue to operate the government facilities of the “red” portion under the existing Constitution, allowing the “blue” regions to put into effect whatever set of cockamamie rules they think will do them best.

The Democrats, of course, are invited to remove themselves forthwith to the designated “blue” areas, while those of more freedom-loving inclination would be welcomed into the “red” portion. Once this exchange of “prisoners of conscience” has been carried out, the boundaries between the “blue” and “red” districts will be strictly enforced.

Wonderful deal, if this could be done with a minimum of conflict and bloodshed. But even if much violence results, it may still be better, in the long run, that the two opposing philosophies live in separate spheres. Worked just fine, for the most part, between the Soviet Union and the United States, for the better part of half a century.

Until, in one of the strangest inversions in history, the philosophies of the two blocs were somehow exchanged, almost overnight, it would seem. Now the Russian Federation, the successor to the former Soviet Union, is much more receptive to the exercise of that fabulous growth machine, capitalism, than the territory once known as “the United States of America”. Even “Red” China has encouraged the development of capitalistic practices, to the greater disadvantage of whatever that land mass between Mexico and Canada has become.

Power and control are all that democrats want and that is because they truly believe a perfect utopian society is possible with their superior intellect. They are never satisfied, they believe a new law, such as Obamacare will take them to their garden, and when it doesn’t, they desperately try something else. The only difference between a “good”or “bad” democrat is that the good ones really want nirvana for everyone, whereas a bad one wants it only for themselves.

Poll after poll tells us that Americans want spending cuts. Problem is, we all want spending cuts to programs that other people use. And I'm just as guilty as the rest. Cut welfare, medicaid, SSD and food stamps but don't you dare touch my refundable Child Tax Credit! That's how I pay my Christmas credit card bills off each year! (And I'm sure others here feel the same way but they won't admit it. Of course, if their children are grown, they're perfectly happy to have my CTC taken away as long as their prescription drug benefits aren't touched. And on and on...)

Nobody wants their own ox to get gored and Santa wants to give presents to everyone. It's really as simple as that.
