Obama Issues Executive Order...(Title To Long)
Townhall.com ^ | December 30, 2012 | Mike Shedlock

Congress has done such a beautiful job handling the fiscal cliff and debt ceiling that president Obama felt it mandatory to issue an Executive Order Giving Biden, Congress Pay Raises

President Barack Obama issued an executive order to end the pay freeze on federal employees, in effect giving some federal workers a raise. One federal worker now to receive a pay increase is Vice President Joe Biden.

According to
disclosure forms, Biden made a cool $225,521 last year. After the pay increase, he'll now make $231,900 per year.

Members of Congress, from the House and Senate, also will receive a little bump, as their annual salary will go from $174,000 to 174,900. Leadership in Congress, including the speaker of the House, will likewise get an increase.

Here's the list of new wages,
as attached to President Obama's executive order

"A new executive order has been issued providing for a new pay schedule beginning 'on the first day of the first applicable pay period beginning after March 27, 2013,'" reports FedSmith.com. "The pay raise will generally be about 1/2 of 1%."Congress Approval Rating is 18%

The latest Gallup poll taken December 19, 2012, shows Congress Approval Remains at 18% During Fiscal Cliff Debate

Eighteen percent of Americans approve of the job Congress is doing, as leaders continue to work toward a solution to the looming fiscal cliff. That approval rating is unchanged from last month, but remains low from a historical perspective.

Republicans' approval of Congress fell slightly to 14% from 16% in November, while Democrats' approval increased slightly to 21% from 19%. The resulting seven-point partisan gap in approval of Congress is the largest measured since June 2011, with the exception of the 16-point gap prior to the election in October of this year.Any Raise is Too Much

I happen to think any raise is too much.

Perhaps Obama thinks 18% approval is a stunningly good achievement following the brilliant Congressional handling of fiscal cliff issues, the smooth handling of healthcare, and the always steady handing of the budget deficit and debt ceiling.

I fail to see the reason of the Senate's approval rating is higher then the House's with Harry Reid not having had a budget in over 1300 days

He has to give them a raise to make up for the tax increases they will get because of their failure to do their jobs!

This stinks of unconstitutionality. Since when do federal employees, and especially members of Congress, look to the President, the Big Cheese-Wannabee-for-Life, for an emolument or increment to their compensation?

Hell, no! Boehner and the GOP caucus ought to get busy at the jump, knocking down this power grab.

He's baiting them, baiting them and training them to eat from his hand -- and patronizing them publicly.

Julius Caesar pulled crap like this all the time .... unconstitutionally showing off his liberalitas, offering his amicitia, which of course had a price tag ..... like Vito Corleone's.

"Plata o Plombo" is the way the Colombian subvertors put it. "Take our silver, or eat our lead."

>> He’s baiting them

Hopefully they’re just playing along enjoying the spoils of a regime they know ultimately cannot survive.

Individually, small or in large groups...hammer your elected to follow the Constitution and STOP the SPENDING....Obama knows this country doesn’t want to give one more dime to Washington Bureaucrats i.e., the elected....they are not doing their jobs so he does it by EO. Government already pays higher salaries than the private sector....like the Drug Cartels paying kids etc. to work for them and make as much in a day more than they can in three months doing honest work. This is economic madness....plus Obama is cutting our Military back - HARD - but giving our senators, congressmen etc. higher pay...for what? For joining the Obama train....it’s called in some circles, PayBack and that is wrong!

Via an EO? What the hell is that - can he do that? Which one of the Patriots appearing on the Sunday shows will call this out?
Sadly - I think we already know the answer - this is sad.

Don't give them a pay raise.

Just heard on Fox and Friends that D.C. just passed Silicon Valley as the area with the highest income per capita.

I’d be disgusted, but I burned through my supply of disgust a long time ago.

If my boss had an opinion of me that equated to an 18% approval rating as congress has, it would be unlikely that I would have continued employment.

Do some digging amongst the following which may help or confuse you more regarding this entire process. The House passed this legislation back in Sept. 13, 2012 on a vote of 391 - 91 with 9 not voting. The Senate passed a concurring Joint Resolution on Sept 22, 2012 with a 62 - 30 vote.

Continuing Appropriations Resolution, 2013

The EO provides the schedules of increases amongst the government employees in varying departments.

There are multiple EOs from previous Presidents regarding this same subject at this link

You mean to say that Joe Biden LIED when he repeatedly told audiences at campaign appearances that he was in the Middle Class?

A lying SOB like that has NO class.
