Obama's Regulatory Surge Empowers Bureaucrats
IBD ^ | December 27, 3012 | Editor

Government By Fiat: Quietly, on Christmas Eve while no one was looking, President Obama unveiled his regulatory plans for the coming year. Why all the secrecy? What's he got to hide? Plenty, it seems.

By law, Obama was supposed to issue his regulatory plans last April. But, as with so many other things, he simply ignores the laws he finds inconvenient. Who's to stop him?

Even the Associated Press has noticed:

"Since the election, the Obama administration has quietly reopened the regulations pipeline" on everything from "workplace safety to a crackdown on Wall Street," the news service wrote last week.

Boy, has it. But why? Obama's expansive agenda to boost the size, scope and power of the federal government depends on creating a new regulatory state — one that sidesteps the messy democratic necessity of seeking congressional approval for things he wants.

With the GOP still in control of the House, he knows a regulatory end-run is how he can get his way on everything from energy to the environment. And that's why he's nine months late in revealing his list of regulations.

[snip] As examples, just two of Obama's major regulatory efforts — ObamaCare and the Dodd-Frank rewrite of U.S. financial laws — will require literally thousands of pages of new regulations, written not by elected Congress members, but by unelected bureaucrats.

And that's why he's nine months late in revealing his list of regulations.

If the regulations aren't legal, why not simply ignore them? Why not assume for the public the same privileges he claims for himself ?

Understood, not all cases will work this way, but can anyone cite a specific instances in which this administration actually had to enforce its fiats?

In the meantime we're running in circles trying to put out what seem little more than trash-can fires.

Congress now should impeach the ba$tard.

And hammer impeachment for the next 4 years.

The People will refuse to obey his “regulations”, and that is when the war against Obama’s fascism will begin in earnest.

This makes me think of an old movie THX 1138 about an all controlling, all surveiling government in a dystopian future. It was a very depressing film and IIRC people were nothing but disposable cogs with every thought and action monitored.

Congress created the problem when it delegated to the Executive Branch its Constitutional authority to legislate. The result is an imperial executive - the goal of the Fabians.

What Americans have not been taught or have ignored or forgotten is that our government is supposed to be gridlocked. Legislation and change are supposed to be difficult and ponderous. Central Planners don’t have time to waste building a consensus. Action is needed now.

Congress simply needs to reassert its Constitutional authority to write law. Regulations are laws.

There are people who have absolutely no idea what it takes to write, or even revise, regulations ~ for example Obamugabe ~ and they imagine they can have new rules on the street in days.

There are no more than 2 dozen capable and qualified rule writers in Washington ~ they take months!

Most of what gets published in the Federal Register is a dross of repetitive 'orders' that affect few people and have little impact on anything. Sometimes the whole thing is mostly modifications to USDA marketing orders that change expiration dates or other minor administrative items.

Worse are the things prepared by lawyers ~ their first failing is they are incomprehensible. Their second failing is they will need to be litigated. Their third failing is Obamugabe will be long retired before most of that stuff is done.

Seriously folks, anybody who thinks they can exercise detailed control on everybody in the USA with a bunch of garbage written by anyone but the major league rule writers probably also believes in herding cats.

No... thank you to the overly-arrogant conservatives who chose to “make a statement” by staying home and not voting, or voting for Gary Johnson. They really showed us now!!! /sarc.

B/S. He’s nine months late because he wanted to wait till
after the election. He can wright any EO, any time he want’s
because there is no one to do anything about it. He IS a
tyrant because the spineless R’s and complicit D’s LET him.
Not to mention a fooled and ignorant general population.

His aim is civil unrest. His outcome is dictatorial power.
His goal is to rewrite or adopt a new constitution.

Once this happens, his puppet masters will promptly replace
him with a truly evil usurper. Then we will get the new
world order and one world government.

All laws can be and usually are enforced at the point
of a gun. The legality is for the courts to decide.
Until it is judicially decided unlawful it is law. And
if Obama gets a chance to throw down on a group, city,
county or state he will. Civil unrest is his first goal.
He is using the law of the land and a weak and spineless
opposition to his advantage. Comply or martial law. How
can he loose?

Ya know, there was a time where I would have called that crazy talk. But, there are those on the hard left, in the government, who want nothing more than for Obama to assume dictatorial power.

And, these idiots might be able to cause an economic collapse AND civil unrest, but they are fools to think that they can control it. Some of these idiots read a book about a theory by a guy who does not have a clue. These idiots think that they will achieve utopia. What they will get is a swift kick in the rear by reality...and so will we.

Again, it all boils down to the Constitution....or lack of making them follow it in most cases.

And exactly where did the People give their authority for Congress TO delegate their powers?

I’d say it’s pretty easy to contend that the power given to Congress by the People are not something they can delegate away w/out an amendment. Just as much as it could be argued that regulations, not written by Congress, are NOT lawful.

All laws can be and usually are enforced at the point of a gun.

But can agency regulations and decrees by fiat be enforced to the same extent? Will all judges surrender to political expediency? Does 'bam really have the resources to make good on all of these demands?

We may be giving him too much credit and he's got us in turmoil trying to answer each and every insult.

Make him work a little more; he hates work.
