Jammie Wearing Fool is reporting, with supporting links, that Editor CynDee Royle at the Journal News headquartered in White Plains, New York, which on Saturday, as noted on Monday at NewsBusters, published an interactive map showing the names and address of all pistol permit holders in Westchester and Rockland Counties, has taken down her Facebook page and made her Twitter account private (the latter may have been the case before the article was published). The paper has also recognized the outrage the published map cause, is offering a truly lame defense, and claims it didn't get everything it wanted.
Paper-“People are concerned about who owns guns and how many of them there are in their neighborhoods. Our Freedom of Information request also sought specifics on how many and what types of weapons people owned. That portion of the request was denied.”

Their time as a newspaper is short. Believe me, there are a LOT of people canceling their subscriptions. If you know anything about Rockland County, it is chock full of retired NYPD officers who put away a tons of bad guys. These retirees now have had their names and addresses listed in a NEWSPAPER.
The definition of mixed feelings is seeing your enemy drive off the cliff in your new Cadillac.
We need an independent press. We haven’t had one in 50 years.
Maybe when this phony one dies off a real one will take its place.
The problem is a bit bigger than this. What they did is perfectly legal, What is illegal is publishing the names of convicted felons living in your neighbourhood.
It’s the same when you serve on a jury. The criminal, ahem, the accused, has the Constitutional right to remain silent. You, as a juror on the other hand, must answer all questions, and provide all personal information demanded, which can be used against you by the very criminal and his accomplices.

You have told criminals which homes might not be armed. I guess you don’t really care about the consequences because you can always use the result to advance your communist agenda.
Someone should come up with a website along the lines of Homeinvasion.com or thugsinc.net using their map to highlight areas which they run the lowest risk of resistance during a home invasion. The sight should also stress the importance of being efficient and getting in and out in less then the fifteen minutes it will take the police to arrive
Somebody needs to come up with an interactive map of the reporters, editors, and publishers names and addresses.
Hey “newspaper!” How about doing some “investigative journalism?”
Just how many of those CCW permits in your maps actually commit crimes? What’s the rate, compared to that on non-CCW holders in these same ares?
Who knows? If some “IJ” is done, they might even find that the rate of crime commission by CCW holders is actually LOWER than the population at large! And maybe even protected other people!

Liberals - blaming someone else!
Ohio’s concealed-carry law tries ot safegurard against irresponsible media, and others, who demand to know who has a gun carrying permit. The names may be seen but no copies can be acquired or notes taken. So no wholesale publication of lists. Maybe cherrypick to embarrass certain individuals.
Just because a person goes through the gun safety course to acquire a concealed carry permit does not mean they have a gun. Just that they are allowed to legally carry a concealed weapon.
You can do what you want uh, Ms Royal, but so can we. The day has ended that you have free reign to cause harm and not suffer any consequences.
Yes, this info may have bee available by the FOIA, but if people wanted it, they are also free to file using the FOIA request. I would wager very few, if any, would have bothered.
