Hawaii Lt. Gov. Brian Schatz Picked to Replace Late Sen. Daniel Inouye

Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie announced tonight Lt. Gov. Brian Schatz will replace the late Sen. Daniel Inouye as the U.S. senator from Hawaii -- not Sen. Inouye's first choice.

On the day he died, the late senator wrote a letter to Abercrombie asking that he pick Rep. Colleen Hanabusa, D-Hawaii, to replace him.

Hanabusa made it to the final round of consideration, but she did not win the nomination.

"The charge of the central committee was to take all points of view into account, from Sen. Inouye and from the rank and file -- the Democratic grass roots," Abercrombie said during a news conference on Wednesday evening. "No one and nothing was preordained."

Schatz served in the Hawaii House of Representatives from 1998 to 2006. In 2006, he launched an unsuccessful bid for a seat in the U.S. Congress.

Schatz served as chairman of the Democratic Party of Hawaii from 2008 to 2010. He was sworn in as lieutenant governor in December 2010.

Schatz named two priorities for his new appointment that rarely see action on the Senate floor: native Hawaiian recognition and climate change.

Throw Richard Flahavan into that mix. His responsiblities seem to extend beyond just Obama when it comes to ‘fix’ draft registration issues.

As it deals with Obama

As it deals with another political leader.

http://www.hillbillyreport.org/diary/976/senator-mitch-mcconnells-military-service

“When we received the Selective Service Classification Records from the Selective Service System all of the records were included with the exception of Senator Mitch McConnell’s and his was an extract put together by Richard Flahavan, Associate Director for Intergovernmental Affairs. When Richard Flahavan was questioned about sending us an extract of Senator Mitch McConnell’s Selective Service Classification Record, he responded in writing that “ Selective Service no longer has access to Selective Service records for men born prior to 1960.” Knowing that we had already received the full Selective Service Classification Records for Senator Saxby Chambliss, Rep Tom Tancredo born in 1943 and 1945 respectively we felt that Richard Flahavan was possibly covering for Senator Mitch McConnell. In Richard Flahavan’s extract he writes “the U.S. Army ordered him to undergo an Armed Forces Physical Examination which he did July 9, 1967. Apparently, he did not pass because he was released from the U.S. Army Reserve August 15, 1967.” I just love that word apparently! “

The question on Schatz’s OCON is - what was the intent?

Was it an ‘innocent mistake’? If it was why not just refile with the required verbiage? Did Schatz REFUSE to fix the document? If so, why?

Did he attempt to ‘slide it by’ and just hope no one noticed? i.e was it attempt to commit fraud by KNOWINGLY submitting an invalid document and hoping ‘it passed’?

Was there a per-arranged deal to accept the invalid document by the SEC? Did if fall through? Did someone notice?

Did Schatz commit ‘minor fraud’ and let Nancy Pelosi commit the ‘major fraud’ - declaring a non-natural born Citizen as Constitutionally eligible?

We know that his document was legally worthless. Hence, Ms. Pelosi had to submit the updated letter from the national party since Hawaii law indicates they will accept the OCON from either the state or National party with the required constitutional language.

Every Secretary of State who signed off on Obama should wonder - did Brian Schatz leave us exposed? He did not sign off - why should we?
