Piers Morgan lashed out on Twitter today after a petition on the White House’s official website demanding his deportation blew past the 25,000 signature mark necessary to require an official response.
The petition, now over 45,000 signatures, asks the White House to deport Morgan, a CNN host, for what it calls an attack on the second amendment. Morgan, who is British, has been an outspoken advocate for gun control in the aftermath of the Newtown shootings earlier this month. The petition calls his advocacy a “hostile attack against the U.S. Constitution,” and demands that he “be deported immediately for his effort to undermine the Bill of Rights and for exploiting his position as a national network television host to stage attacks against the rights of American citizens.”
In the early going, Morgan seemed to be amused by the petition, retweeting links to it and playfully urging his followers to sign. But, after the petition passed the 25,000 threshold, he returned to Twitter to bash the petition, calling it ridiculous and stating that his positions on gun control are not anti-constitutional but rather common sense. Morgan also retweeted a number of tweets supporting him.

He seems upset that we want to infringe his right to free speech. Nobody is suggesting he can’t speak his mind, we just want him to do it from somewhere else.
Piers Morgan...joining a long list of limeys who have blown up US media companies... Tina Brown (killed Newsweek) and Mark Thompson who came to run the NY Times (further) into the ground because he couldn’t stay in Britain after covering up a child sex scandal at the BBC. That British accent will only get you so far kids...after awhile the public figures out you are a loser, even if you do have the snooty authoritarian sound of our former school marms.
More likely the WH is writing up his appointment as gun czar.
Send the redcoat back to his home for trying to subvert our Constitution. His “professional” predecessors with all of their superior toys and tactics were beaten by our “mere colonials” more than once. Like all libs, Morgan claims his right to be an idiot and say whatever he wants, but when others take him to task for it he doesn’t like it. We are supposed to bow down to all pontifications from these empty suits but not question or take them to task for what they say.
