Should Santa Claus still be fat?
CNN ^

Posted on 12/23/2012 8:43:00 PM PST by chessplayer

Pickler's job as a professional Santa was a constant joke on the latest season of "The Biggest Loser." With his long white beard and protruding stomach, the 63-year-old looked every bit the part he played.

"The world is going to have to change their acceptance of what Santa looks like," Pickler said. "Santa is a role model, and kids don't want to have a role model that's fat."

Oh goody. A politically correct Santa.

"The world is going to have to change their acceptance of what Santa looks like," Pickler said.

I suppose doing away with white Santa's will be next.

You need to accept people for who they are. Unless they’re fat.

Santa is now going to have to be black(ish) and oily and married to a yeti. No christmas pork roast, just the roasted dog, kobe beef and aragula. And the reindeer swapped out with camels.

If we return to a more christian origin of Santa Claus, St. Nicholas he would probably be thin. This is from Yahoo

Was the Real Santa Claus Fat?

It was rare for anyone besides nobility to be obese during the time in which St. Nicholas was alive, and bishops rarely indulged in such earthly and gluttenous pleasures. Most depictions of St. Nicholas actually reveal him to be somewhat shockingly thin. This would be consistent with his reputation as a selfless person who gave to those in need, instead of over-indulging in wealth.

Why are the reindeer brown? Sure, have all the browns do all the menial labor of lugging around that sleigh and an old fat white guy.

The comments are so incredibly stupid and ignorant, it is mind boggling- we are domed if this is who America is becoming.
(ok there are a few of reason but most are from PC liberals)

"Santa" wasn't ever a big fat guy until that fateful Coca-Cola ad (which also cemented him as wearing all red). Frankly, I happen to prefer the somewhat slimmer "Father Christmas" version anyway.
